North Dakota's Secretary of State, Al Jaeger, will have some new competition at the polls come November.
Her name, April Fairfield.
Fairfield, a democrat, previously served in the state House of Representatives, and is a Jamestown native.
She says her republican opponent Jaeger has been in office for 22 years and it's time he give someone else a try.
Fairfield has growing concern over the new voter registration laws that she feels are working against the people they are meant to serve.
(April Fairfield, Secretary of State Candidate) "I really believe that the Secretary of State has the authority to tweak the voter i.d.. law. That would make sure people we not turned away from the polls. I am also interested in as the chief business officer of the state, people need to be able to have the business registrations turned over more quickly and effectively than they currently are."
The day to cast your ballot in the Secretary of State race is November 4th.
