The Dunn County Sheriff's Department says an elderly couple had to be rescued from the roof of their home due to high water this morning.
Sheriff Clay Coker says heavy rain has caused the Knife River near Marshall to flood.
After the water started pouring into the couple's home, they escaped onto the roof.
Two Game and Fish wardens took a boat out to rescue the couple.
They are now safe and staying with other family members.
Deputy Hunter Rhoades says the water was about 4 feet high.
He says it isn't uncommon for the Knife River to flood, but the couple has never seen the water that high.
