Embattled WSI Medical Director Resigns

The medical director at Workforce Safety and Insurance has resigned according to a WSI spokesperson.

Dr. Luis Vilella resigned Friday after working eight years for the agency.

Deputy Director of WSI Clare Carlson said Villeja provided "good service" while employed with the agency.Vilella made headlines in 2012 for saying he felt pressured to alter medical reviews.

Earlier this spring Vilella told WSI director Byran Klipfel that his medical opinion took a back seat to legal opinions

Carlson says he can't comment further on personnel matters.
