Highway Crash Involves Farm Tractor

Posted: Updated:
One person was injured when a farm tractor and a semi truck collided on Highway Two west of Berthold this afternoon.

Emergency crews had to rescue a man who was pinned under the tractor.

He was taken from the scene by ambulance.

The semi involved in the accident ended up emerged in a water-filled ditch alongside the highway, but the semi's driver was not injured.

The Highway Patrol reports the semi was not carrying any hazardous material when it hit the tractor from behind.

(Jason Sanderson, Highway Patrol) "The tractor was in the right-hand lane, and the semi-truck was coming up behind him. We haven't gotten a chance to speak to the semi truck driver yet, so we are not sure of his story, but he did end rear-end this vehicle, causing it to tip over. The occupant of the tractor to be pinned underneath part of the cab with his leg."

Sanderson says the accident is a reminder for all of us to be aware that there will be slow-moving farm vehicles on roads and highways over the next several weeks and he urges us all to slow down when we see them.
