Kuwait medical center now offering patients access to revolutionary new method for testing tear production to treat dry eye syndrome.

Kuwait (PRWEB) August 21, 2014

Beverly Hills Medical Center of Kuwait is excited to be the first center in Kuwait to offer patients TearLab, a new diagnostic option for measuring tear production levels to aid in the treatment of dry eye syndrome.

TearLab is a revolutionary new testing method for dry eyes. Using the TearLab machine, doctors can accurately measure the amount of tears a patient produces and take the necessary steps to treat the condition, said Dr. Ghassan Zein, Medical Director at the Kuwait medical center. The test collects a small amount of tear film on a patients upper and lower eyelids, providing our specialists with a quantitative assessment of tear film health.

Anyone can suffer from dry eye syndrome. It can result from several factors including low tear production, environmental factors such as pollen, dust, and pollution, blocked tear ducts, and computer-related eye strain. Typical symptoms can usually be alleviated with over-the-counter eye drops, but in persistent cases sufferers can experience increased discomfort, pain, blurred vision, light sensitivity and itching.

The TearLab technology now available at the Beverly Hills Medical Center of Kuwait gives ophthalmologists the opportunity to offer patients a pain-free and easy test for tear production levels, after which appropriate treatment can be provided. Because the TearLab test does not require the use of anesthetics or pupil dilation, patients do not need to be accompanied to the exam and are free to drive when the procedure is over.

Though its not dangerous, dry eye syndrome can be irritating and uncomfortable, said Dr. Ghassan. However, thanks to state-of-the-art technologies, testing for dry eye syndrome is easier and more accurate than ever before, and we are proud to be the first medical center in Kuwait with access to this exciting technology.

Beverly Hills Medical Center-Kuwait features ophthalmology, plastic surgery, head and neck surgery, dermatology, dentistry, and bariatric surgery departments staffed by some of the best physicians in the world. BHMC offers the most technologically advanced facility in the Gulf, and was designed with outstanding patient service in mind. Because our patients deserve nothing but the best, our facilities are equipped with the latest technology. We are proud to share this incredible place with both patients and visiting VIP physicians.
