Two Baby Bison Calves Roam Around the Dakota Zoo

Posted: Updated:

Two baby bison are now roaming around the Dakota Zoo.

Dakota Zoo Director Terry Lincoln says the two little babies are called calves.

They were born just two weeks apart.

Lincoln says one is a girl and one is a boy, and so far they like eating and chasing hawks in their pen.

He says the pair gets along well and likes to stay close together.

"It's nice particularly about having two calves is they've got companionship and growing up chasing each other around," says Dakota Zoo Director Terry Lincoln.

Lincoln says the bison are originally from the Theodore Roosevelt State Park.

He says the calves will be taken to another facility in the fall.
