One group put up a fight against Saturday's rain showers.
Kickin' it in the Park has entered its fourth year at Oak Park.
It's a series of martial arts classes that teach self defense.
Two Minot-based instructors and 8 from California are at the helm of the classes.
Martial Arts Instructor Ray Krieger is one that made the trek from California.
He says teaching in the Magic City is well worth the miles traveled.
(Ray Krieger, Martial Arts Instructor)"We're here in Minot teaching martial arts to the community have a great time. Are we having a fun time?(Cheering) We're teaching a lot of the community and having a great time."
The classes kicked off Wednesday and run until tomorrow afternoon.
The instructors say the lessons taught at the 5-day event offer import tools for people of all ages.
(Ray Krieger, Martial Arts Instructor)"Everyone should be able to defend themselves. At least have the knowledge of what they can and cannot do. And just knowing that and being aware is a game-changer."
(Rodger Martin, Head Instructor, Moore's Martial Arts)"Being able to defend yourself is going to give you the confidence and the awareness to be able to do whatever you want to do."
