Change of Venue Request Denied in Mandan Murder Case

Posted: Updated:

A district judge denied a change of venue request from the lawyers for Jonathan McKinney.

McKinney is charged in the murder of a Mandan man, Alex Lansdon, in Lansdon's home.

McKinney's lawyers asked for the change of venue because of the amount of exposure given the case.

They wrote that extensive media coverage in the area will make it hard for McKinney to get a fair trial.

South Central District Judge Bruce Haskell denied the motion writing that the court WILL attempt to seat a jury.

McKinney is officially charged with murder, tampering with evidence and criminal conspiracy.

His trial is set for January 6, 2015.
