Around Town 8-29

Posted: Updated:

It's a big retail project that's been the talk of the town.

A quiet scene just North of Walmart along Highway 83 is now being transformed.

Berg Group is investing in this 300,000 square foot development.

Concrete has been poured for Gordmans and Dick's Sporting Goods.

Bed Bath & Beyond, Michaels, and Ulta Cosmetics will follow.

Other potential retail is also in negotiations.

"It'll be a nice center for the people around here and we're hoping that we're bringing in some new stores that they haven't had an opportunity to shop at before so we're excited about it just simply because it's another addition to the city of Bismarck," says Jerry Splonskowski, Co-Owner, Northwest Contracting.

Splonskowski says Dick's should be complete by mid-August and Gordmans by mid-September of next year.

Northbrook Mall along North Washington Street welcomes a maternity store.

Mommies 2B will sell clothing that mothers can wear before, during, and after pregnancy.

"I did a lot of nursing as well so you can wear them while you're expecting and then wear them afterwards so you get a lot more wear out of your clothes that way," says Erin Magelky, Owner, Mommies 2B.

The store will also sell swimsuits and diaper bags that Magelky says look like purses.

Mommies 2B will open September 3rd.

A new store in Mandan is all about retro and rusty rides.

Past Gas Garage is located next to Turbo Spa Car Wash and sells custom-made car furniture, metal and neon signs, retro appliances, and coca-cola items.

"This is just stuff I like. You know, this is things that I think are cool. And when I wanted to buy things like this I had to go somewhere else to get it. There was nothing like it around in the Midwest and so I wanted to bring it up here and have this garage decor super store," says Tim Ell, Owner, Past Gas Garage.

Past Gas Garage opens August 30th.
