Santa Rosa, CA (PRWEB) August 30, 2014

Nancy Wheeler of Santa Rosa, California wanted one last summer of building lasting memories with her family, and she got it, with a Baseball Road Trip hosted by Sports Travel and Tours of Hatfield, Massachusetts. Baseball games at Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, and time in Cooperstown, along with the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony were included, complete with making new friends and memories along the way.

A legacy of baseball runs in the family. The Wheelers were able to visit the plaque George Kelly, Nancys uncle, at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. It always amazes me to think what it took to get there, to the Hall of Fame, said Nancy. During the Induction Ceremony for the new Hall of Fame members, Frank Thomas thanked so many people who contributed to his success. It must be that way for all of them.

With her son Matthew starting at Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA to play baseball, and daughter Erica beginning a Special Education teaching position in Marin County this fall, Nancy knew this was their time to travel, but she was having trouble putting the trip together herself. So Nancy called the Hall of Fame, and asked if they suggested any company that could help her. They immediately suggested Sports Travel and Tours, and from then on it was just like school kids on a well-planned field trip, with our permission slips. We just showed up and went.

Another special place for Nancy was at Fenway Park. You felt like you were inside an old-fashioned baseball card, she said. The stadium itself has personality.

The best parts of their trip, however, were the rides on the motor coach, with other baseball fans. We were traveling as three friends, rather than a mom and children. And we met great people while traveling, all with our common interest in baseball.

Nancy was also at Candlestick Park in 1989 when the Loma Prieta earthquake hit. I remember the healing that came through Baseball after the earthquake when the Giants and A's resumed the playing of the Series, just like the healing through Baseball and the Yankees playing after 9/11.

When asked, Nancy said she would travel to the National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction ceremony again, and again. Baseball overrides the things of the world, said Nancy. It teaches life lessons, and brings out the enjoyable parts of people.
