Cowboys Shoot 'Em Up at First Ever RoughRider Roundup

Posted: Updated:
A group of cowboys and cowgirls are raising a ruckus all weekend.

The 1st annual Dakota Rough Rider roundup was held at the Freed Family Shooting Complex North of Bismarck.

All weekend shooters from Minnesota, South Dakota and Canada will compete in this Single Action Shooter competition.

Cowboys and cow girls of all ages and skill levels shoot replica guns from the 1800's at steel plates, going for the quickest time.

Two-time state champion for Cowboy Action Shooting Tom Liebel, says this group is more like friends than competitors.

"If we see a cowboy that can i prove himself, we'll tell him how to do it.  If his gun breaks down, we'll hand him our gun; 'here, use this one, shoot it!'  It's an amazing camaraderie in the Cowboy Action Shooting.  People are unbelievable." says Tom Liebel

A regional competition for Single Action Shooting Society will be next month in Morristown, Minnesota.
