New Primate Center Opens at Dakota Zoo

Posted: Updated:
A year round exhibit at the Dakota Zoo held its grand-opening this afternoon.

The New Primate Center is officially open to the public.

Over 20 animals including Sai-mangs, Spider Monkeys and Lemurs now call this facility their home.

A line quickly formed outside as many families came to the zoo to check out these furry friends.

Zoo workers hope this new addition will attract more visitors throughout the year.

"Hopefully it'll bring a lot more people in in the winter because a lot of people think we are closed all winter when you live here.  All of the little kids love being able to be this close to the primates because a lot of the other exhibits you just didn't see them as well.  It's just aesthetically pleasing and everyone loves it." says Allison Johnson, Zookeeper

The center will be open Friday through Sunday throughout the winter.
