sneakycat,

Here is the point of my posts on this topic. If you live in the area, let everyone that you can know what a success it was and how we managed to get a crowd of over 300 on short notice during the week during working hours. I talked to people who drove here from Minot, Beulah and even from Montana.

Let them know that there will be another Tea Party on July 4th. What I heard is that they are going to try to schedule people like Kent French, Ed Schaefer, and Scott Hennen.

We will paint Bismarck, Mandan, and surrounding communities with flyers weeks before the event.

My favorite memory of the Bismarck Tea Party was the government employees and the Federal Building on East Rosser who were either cleaning the windows or doing maintenance on them. On the taxpayer’s dime, they stood there with their backs to their work mocking us as we arrived. On the taxpayer’s dime, they made a sign and hung it from their scaffold that said something like “We Won, Go Home”. They must have wasted a good hour. Once the media and 300 people arrived, they shut up, took down the sign, and went back to their job …. Or at least looked like they were working. It was hard to tell.

This is the kind of waist that we came to protest. They noticed.

Bismarck at 6:30 has 11 inches of snow, and we are looking at snow for the rest of the day and the winds should now really begin to pick up. So if you don't have to travel don't, and as a positive note schools are actually closed.

Now for the bad news, this is going to create serious flooding concerns as we melt this for the next week. There is ice from the South Dakota border to the Kimball Bottoms area, then the Fox Island ice jam, then Double Ditch has a 5 mile long ice jam. Increased flows and a heavy ice pack on the river is not a good mix.

As of 7 am we have now had 94.2 inches this year. Making it the second snowiest ever {101.6} being the most in 96-97. We have a serious shot at breaking that record TODAY. Reply...

The storm has trended the past few runs to move north a little. What this means is it will push the heavier bands of snow accordingly north. As of right now I think Bismarck and Dickinson area will be in the 8-11 inch range, while areas from Sidney, to Garrison to Carrington will get 1-3 range. Places like Wilton, Washburn, Beulah, and and a line east and west of there will be looking at 3-7 inches. With the heaviest snow being say from Linton and Fort Yates over towards Mott, those areas could see up two feet again. On top of this snow will be strong winds. Making travel once again difficult if not impossible, in the 94 corridor south.

The two variables left in this storm, are the exact track. Yesterday it looked like the storm would be a little south of where we thought  orginally. Where Bismarck would only get 3-5 instead. So if this storm continues to move north we will see heavier amounts push northward. The other part is when does this storm leave? Well it has been forecasted to move out the region on Tuesday however, it now appears blocking will occur in the eastern flow. Which would severly slow or stop the storm. I do not think it will stop the storm but we could see the storm last through Tuesday which again would raise snow amounts. Reply...

I thought I would mention that Long Lake is over it's banks and could flood into the Apple Creek. So those of you who live by Apple Creek pay attention to this creek level.

There will be a storm entering the southern portion of North Dakota Sunday into Monday. As of right now heavy snow looks to set up from the 94 corridor and south to the Mobridge area. Moving east to west, this storm does have some unpredictablity currently. Each model is different on when exactly the storm moves in and how long it stays which could effect snow fall totals. Then on Tuesday we will have a much smaller and weaker system enter the state which only really adds insult to injury. Looking further out another Colorado Low looks to be headed in to the region sometime next weekend {late weekend probably Sunday into Monday} Be mindful this is ten days away and very uncertain but it does look to set up into very heavy precip over the Northern Plains again. So floods are still a concern for the same areas that have just got flooded or are exeperiencing flooding.

Also we only need about 17 inches to break the all time snow record and it looks like we may have a chance to do that.
