What do you mean police cant solve crime ?  What are they here for ?  I know we were paying some of them too much but what do you mean they cannot solve crime ?

We only have a few murders in this lil shyt hole, and they cant solve them ?

I suddenly feel so unsafe , like i havent felt that before in the last 30 years.  I keep my guns loaded and I live in Minot. and have for over 30 years and more than willing to use them .

Just for shytes and giggles I drive down broadway with a cigarette and I blow the smoke out the window just hoping my habit affects YOU .  I know its illegal but I have my rights to.  Just remember that !

If you live in minot you really should have a way of self protection.

You are not american if you are not armed to the teeth.  I mean how long do you need to live here to know that?

Missing 1 Rhino fishing rod I used in a radio isotope experiment that still omits radiation and attracts lightning out of blue skys. 1 Kodak 35 mm camera w/suggestive pictures,  w/case. 1 Weber BBQ grill,  1 wallet w/license, credit card, 500 dollars in cash taken out of my back pocket at some gay bar with a rocking horse by gun point.

JUST EXACTLY WHAT DO YOU MEAN POLICE CANT SOLVE CRIME?

They are working on it let them finish the jelly filled pastry first

You know it is kinda weird that the Police Department in Minot seems more inept in Minot. It could be just an off perception but Minot did have a run of bad luck.

Fargo had a bunch of drownings in the Red (2004/05) that seemed awfully close together and under odd circumstances, but they were all accidental. Does that mean a murderer no not nessicarily coincidence can be a weird thing. Then again some times there are no coincidences. Reply...

Has anyone stopped to consider the factual basis for these laws or their effects?

(1) According to US Department of Justice statistics, only 5% of sex offenders released in 1994 were returned to prison for a new sex crime.

(2) Additional research has indicated that most sex crimes are committed by persons known to the victim, NOT BY STRANGERS.

(3) Research also indicates that most sex offenses are committed by FIRST TIME OFFENDERS and not by repeat offenders...a fact reinforced by the 5% recidivism rate.

(4) States already have registries, and now the federal government is imposing its legislation on a state matter, threatening to remove 10% of federal funds from non-compliant states. This is more about money than public safety.

(5) Do you consider your federal government MORE efficient and responsive to the public interest than the states?

(6) Do you support a national ID card system? There are more than 650,000 people registered as sex offenders today with an annual growth rate of 7%.

(7) Most are not aware of the increasing number of persons considered to be "sex offenders" or the crimes they have committed, including persons who have simply urinated on the side of the road without knowing a minor was present.

(8) The largest group of registered sex offenders are 14-year-olds who will more than likely never commit a new crime.

These laws are a bad idea. Reply...

I just heard about this story earlier this morning. This morning my kids and a neighbor kid walked to school. As I was about to turn north onto Washington street I noticed a big white van with 2 men inside that gave me this weird feeling and I noticed that van braked right by the kids. There was a vehicle right behind it and saw that they kept going. I didn't think much about it after that until I saw this story. I immediately called the school to make sure all three kids where there. The pricipal went out to the playground to make sure they were. Please make sure your kids are safe and they know what to do when confronted by strangers. This incident this morning happened in the southwest end of town just 3 blocks to the north of Solheim. I hate to say this but we have put the power into others peoples hands by letting them control us because something may be bad for our health!! Look at the history from people being able to protest at a soldiers funeral because it is their right(freedom of speech), or how many people decide where smokers can smoke at and where they can not, what type of fats we can eat (restraunts no longer can use anything that has trans fat)!!

Look at how now we can no longer discipline a child but talk to them and not let them take the consequences of their actions because of being scared someone may not like the way the discipline is handed out!!!

Lets look at how many people think that they have a right to tell someone what they can do and not do!

I have heard many people on here  that are against what happened to Ron White but are in favor of banning smoking in bars!!! This is what is called a DOUBLED STANDARD!!!

This silly law should not have been put in effect in the first place but this is what you all voted on! you really should start blaming the ones who voted for this silly law!!

Personally, I think it is rediculous that this "sting" was set up and one person caused this to happen to, once again, make ND in the news in a negative way.  I love this state.  Stop ruining it, morons.

What I don't understand is how Ron White smoking a cigar would be any different than pyrotechnics during a concert. Smoke, smells, things burning.  Maybe those have already been banned in Bismarck, I don't know.  If not, maybe someone will complain and get them banned, then we can all enjoy the accoustic concerts with laser light shows and no more rock-n-roll with the real deal.

I also have to put my two cents in on the motorcycle helmet debate. Wear one or don't wear one.  Just make sure you sign up to be a donor when you get your license cuz we can always use more of those.

I don't care if it is pocket change for him, it's part of his act and if you don't like it, stay home and mind your own business. There is a lot more things going on around you everyday that will kill you quicker than a couple of puff off a cigar. Get a hobby or something. Reply...

Lone you are so correct on this.  What people need to think about is this - before they cast their votes for candidates, they need to educate themselves on where the candidates stand.  Research their past, what have they been involved with, if they held office before - how did they vote on certain issues.  We need to stop theses out of control "law makers", no kidding I feel that in the near future they will be regulating the type of toilet paper we can buy and how much we can use each time.  We are smart enough to make these decisions ourselves.  PEOPLE - if you are not happy with our law makers you need to let them know!!!  Call, write and e-mail.  Keep doing it even though you may not get a response - THESE PEOPLE WORK FOR US!!!!!!!!!!!!  DON'T LET THEM FORGET THAT!!!!!!!                                                  HEADLINE:

""Comedian Ron White was charged in Bismarck North Dakota for violating an "Ofactory Obscenity Ordnance" for lighting up a cigar on stage in a local theater.""

Did Bismarck on any other city in North Dakota really need this kind of law. This has become a common practice with our legistlature. Almost every stupid law or tax that gets passed in the U.S. is brought into North Dakota. Do our politicians get "Legistlative Weekly", 'See what (dumb) laws are being passed around the United States?' (Okay I made that up, yet one has to ponder this) Come on people, did the legistlative session have to last this long. We need speed limits, we need seatbelts, we need helmets and yet when people get killed while using them, legistlators are very quiet about those cases. The real secret behind these is that state and local govts. use these things to make money via fines. Politicians could care less about our lives.

What is wrong with Bismarck? Can a business decide wether to allow or prohibit smoking? What happened to private property rights? I am tired of these people who want everything their way, it's time for these spoiled brats to grow up and get a life. What's next an "Ofactory Obscenity Ordnance", anything smell that bothers anyone else becomes an infaction of the law with a $500 fine. Someone releases a flatulance in a public place and this becomes a $500 fine, uses too much perfume/cologne, doesn't shower, wears dirty work clothes, and etc. we get the idea. We have all had our noses offended at one time or another and it DID NOT rise to the occasion that we need to pass a law for this until it was applied to smoking. Watch out people, this will be tried in some part of the U.S. and it will come here.

This was how it was supposed to post.
