In Article: Brian Kalk vs Cheryl Bergian

The "Perfect Fit" is the wrong choice for the PSC.  Kalk  sees the function of the PSC as economic development and not as regulator.  His skills would make him a pretty good fit as an employee of the PSC but his lack of understanding of the regulatory function ie consumer protection make him a bad choice for commissioner.  The PSC did not come into existence to promote the expansion of the railroads but to regulate their bad behavior.  Facing the most difficult economic times in our lifetimes the utilities will see dropping income, difficulties with collecting consumer bills and serious competition from alternate sources of energy.  There will be real need for a commissioner with dedication to the public interest with a willingness to stand up and speak out for the interest of the consuming public.

Cheryl Bergian has the education and experiences equip her to function in the complex legal environment in which the public service commission operates and her opponent does not.

This is definetely a race where the entire state wins no matter who is elected.  They both have great qualifications to do the job.  The only issue with Kalk is that he keeps saying he wants to be a proponent of energy development, the job is a regulatory position.  To be a proponent and the watchdog will be difficult if not impossible to do.  The PSC cannot have any conflicts, their job is plain and clear-North Dakota's best interests. In Article: Cheryl Bergian making another try at ND Public Service Commission...
She's an atheist gay-rights activist who tried to get the Ten Commandments removed from public view in Fargo. I want to see the news media report THAT.

"Aggressive enough in regulating utilities" means she wants to go after the evil coal and oil industries in our state, in lockstep with her leftist views. That's good news for anyone who feels they're not paying high enough monthly utility bills.

If people find out who the real Ms. Bergian is, she doesn't stand a prayer. Which should be fine with her, since she doesn't believe in prayer in the first place. Reply...

It was a very good race, with all three candidates running very effective campaigns. They all have good cause to be very proud of themselves, and their races. We wish Brian Kalk all the best. Reply...

In Article: Stenehjem Runs
I can't believe that a House Republican Legislative loser like Bob Stenehjem is attempting to run for the Public Service Commission. He bragged on T.V. how he was working for the "little guy" while sitting as the House Majority leader, and all he watched out for was greedy Oil Companies, his Republican cronies, and the wealthy elite, not to mention his constant refusal to address the ongoing W.S.I. debacle. Who is he trying to fool? We have one corrupt and dysfunctional Stenehjem in state government calling himself the N.D. State Attorney General who is doing nothing to remedy the W.S.I. mess. Why would the people of North Dakota need or want another Stenehjem to screw up the Public Service Commission?

In Article: Fargo lawyer Cheryl Bergian running again for PSC
Ms. Bergian is a far-left wacko. She's a "gay rights" advocate and an atheist who tried to have the Ten Commandments removed from public sight in Fargo. I wonder if the elderly who reflexively vote Democrat would do so in her case, knowing her politics.

In the video report, KX News showed a sound bite where Ms. Bergian said she made the decision to run "the day Bhutto was killed." What kind of wacko activist can connect the ND PSC to that? And can you imagine what kind of havoc a leftist like this could wreak on ND's booming energy industry?

At a time where North Dakota is experiencing record growth, due in no small part to our energy industry, to have a leftist like this enter the state's regulatory body would be like introducing a pin to the economic balloon. Once she starts acting on what her leftist affiliate organizations start telling her about "evil coal" and global warming, our state could be in for a rude awakening. Reply...

Best thing that could happen to ND and for the Republican Party is for Stenejhem to retire. He is a disgrace to true Republicans. Come on Bob, give us a majority leader that really knows how to lead, and skip running for the PSC, you leadership during this WSI mess shows how you can really screw up business as a PSC member. I met Brian Kalk last week at a function in Bismarck. He is a good common sense guy. We talked about energy development, conserving the environment, and business. He believes, as do I, that they can exist together. Did you know he has a Ph.D. from North Dakota State in Natural Resource Management. He has my vote!

Brian Kalk is the person ND needs to send to Washington, DC.  He has a broad background plus time in our armed forces, great educational credentials, and a set of values that are in sync with the people of this state.    Reply...

Check out the Happy Birthday, Marines article and comments on humanevents.com.  Two quotes from that article:  "Once a Marine always a Marine,” he said. “You earn the title…you join the Army you join the Air Force, you join the Navy but you earn the title of a United States Marine.”  “Marines never give up on the mission nor do they give up on their people."

Brian Kalk has a distinguished 20 year record as a United States Marine.  If Kalk is interested in representing the great state of N.D., let's stand by him and send the best our state has to offer to Washington.  Voters know what we get with Earl Ralph Pomeroy - same old rhetoric that he's delivered for the last 15+ years.  He's always fighting, same fight, different day.  Enough.
My vote goes to the best and brightest and if the race is Kalk vs. Pomeroy, I'm voting for the Marine.  Semper fi, Leathernecks.  Go Kalk !!

Brian Kalk, has kind of a nice ring to it. Kalk for Congress!!! My personal dealings with Brain are such that I would definitely support his run for Congress. He first of has served his country with honor and distinction and without hesitation as a VOLUNTEER!!! Where is the military record of the current Congressional Representative from ND?  I know there is more to running for Congrees than being a Marine but I would say it gives great credibility to someones record especially when you are deciding if a war is necessary or not. How could you not vote for this guy he wears Bison Green and Gold!!! Reply...

Did you see Congress is taking a holiday break before they resolve the funding issues on the war......... hmmmm...... I hope that the "real world" doesn't effect Earls travel plans.  I'm sure he will come back to ND and tell us how hard he is "fighting" to save us,,,,, while the real fighters are without the equipment they need to win this war.  Reply...
