Yeah that’s right Kenmare spoiled the Bottineau girls basketball team chances at State birth again. A better defense out weights a good offence any day. When you put a great defensive player like Sophomore Kortney Miller on a Shauna Knife she cannot perform and is not a factor. All the hype about a team that forgot about a small team that had no depth on there benchs just a lot of heart. Kenmare because of a great coach was better prepared for their opponent on a game-by-game basis. Each of Kenmare's 6 players stepped up when they were needed. Bottineau girls were shocked when Kenmare beat them during season play and were devastated when Kenmare proved that they were the better team in the Region finals. I know, I was there and yes, my daughter, was a factor for Kenmare, sophomore, Katie King. Reply...

Yup sure do think Bottineau is going all the way again. And Winning takes a team not one or two girls. FYI, Kelsey Peltier went to Bottineau as a 7th grader for an education not to play Ball that just came with the move. It's not like she just said oh a winning team and went, her parents actually care about her getting the best education.....As for Shauna her parent are also headstrong and Im pretty sure anyone is entitled to live wherever the want, right...It is kinda like the Bottineau cheerleaders for years they were always untouchable, no one could compete against them at a tournament. It is called a great program and hard work!!!!! So remember it takes a team to win,not just one or two players!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!So don't be jealous because these girls have team to work with to win.. Bottineau has a very good chance of winning state again. I am definately going to be ecstatic if I witness them taking four in a row! They are an amazing team and have awesome fans and coaches. Reply...

I coached against Bottineau at a team camp this summer in Sioux Falls. I really liked how they played and were coached. I wanted to check up on their season and see how they are doing. Their players and coaches were very nice so I want them to do well. If anyone can give me a web site where I can keep tabs on them I would appreciate it. Thanks! Oh yeah, I coach at Ames High School in Ames, Iowa. Go Little Cyclones! Reply...

oh, one more thing, if  Kelsey Peltier were at Dunseith this year, it would only add to a very WINNING program right now for the Dragons, but she is not, so best of luck to my little cuz but not when we play them, Hope she and Shauna are a little off their games those nights, but that is a lot to ask. Well, as you can see, I am not afraid to show who I am on this site. I am the father of a girl who once played for Belcourt. She had no say in why we moved to Dunseith. We were forced to move because of black mold in our home in Belcourt. It was an emergency and family decision that I made as a father needing to provide a healthy home for my daughter. It had nothing to do with the head coach of Belcourt or any of his assistants. Although people may think otherwise, it is NOT the case. My daughter loved Coach McGillis and still feels bad about leaving him. However, since we moved to Dunseith, my dauighter has enjoyed her new coach and is part of a young and very talented group of ball players. To answer the question of whether Botno wlll win its fourth straight state title, they have a great chance of doing that with Shauna and Kelsey, two very talented Native American girls. Without them, they would not stand a chance to achieve that. Shauna, of course, is a one of a kind player and if a team can find a way to stop her, they have a chance to beat Bottineau. Couple those two outtstanding girls with an overall swarming team defense that keeps coming at  you, it's hard to say who can come up with a miracle forumla to beat them even on one of their bad nights. Still, with the right formula, Botno may very well be vulnerable as they roll through the competition. Those are a whole lot of games to win to even make state in Class B. I am proud of our Native American girls who show such talent and dedication and we should all be good to them and support them no matter where they go to school. I know I support Belcourt every game and Shaiyan and I support Shauna and Kelsey and a couple of  the Artz girsl of whom are also native Chippewa too. I just won't support them when we play against them when the Dunseith girls travel there to play them next month. Dunseith is an up and coming program and should be for years and Coach Forsberg better hatch up a good plan to beat us next year.  A lot  of coaches across the state better do the same if Dunseith is on their schedule from now on.  Good luck to the Belcourt Bravettes and of course, our Dunseith Lady Dragons this year. They are both top notch teams with top notch coaches. Reply...

Ya, looks like Bot. can repeat as state champs, they have some very good talent and coaching. As for recruiting I think it stinks ,but, how can you get around it.

Hey people, Botno DOES recruit...Belcourt won't win because of the coaching situation (or lack of)...Dunseith is up and coming (thanks to the Belcourt girls who went to them). Reply...

Wow! Mojack...you've done your homework! lol NOT...goodness ...looks like someone should take a swing by St. Ann's ...maybe you need to seek God...instead of seeking gossip and rumors about people you barely know?

So now we have had all the discussion about Bott, Belcourt etc.  Someone tell me who the top five teams in girls Class B will be going into the up and coming season.

Will it be Bott. for a fourth straight title?

Top Five Picks:

1. Bott (being from this area and their success, it is hard to bet against them.  If they get more recruits, and with their same coach, sounds like a lock for the top spot.  What about the rest of the field?  Who from the SWest, SEast, NEast?

2.

You know your stuff.  Sid, yepper probably the best.  I liked the stats that you put out.  Very impressive from Fargo Shanley.

I have been somewhat and equally impressed with Watford City's Fred Fridley.  Just a couple of seasons ago, he posted another state championship.  He must be getting up there in age and still doing it and still relating with the kids.

I have no doubt in my mind that Kelsey Peltier would be part of a losing program if she was in Dunseith.  With coaches like Eric Poitra and some bonehead Monette from Belcourt coaching, she would be doomed.
Quit trying to take away from this girl.  It is obvious in your post Mr. Jack, that you don't like her dad, so why take it out on her?  Jealousy maybe?

Some advise to you Mr. Jack.  The more you rant, the more your intelligence shows and your true identity is clear.

And to the moderator of this forum.  Do you always allow for anonymous posters to throw around such serious accusations on here without proof? Reply...

I feel really bad about how you talk about people, former coach for the belcourt girls ( you should have put your real name down, not mojack). This goes to show how coaches think, and talk about  our children in our own community. Its people like you that give our children, and community a black eye. You should worry about what you have to work with and just move on. And if Sasha did want to move, it would be up to the (parents). I really hate when we have to worry about other kids that left our community because of our coaches, fans and other thinks as well. Look at our girls again in Belcourt, we have to go through (another) coach. How is it possible to build a program when we have different coachs every year.

I want you to look at other programs that we as Belcourt play in the WDA, we see the same coach year after year sitting on the bench. But not Belcourt we like to complain  and have a different coach every year. Also my child might not play because of problem that you could not fix, and that problem will be back again for our girls. So I hope people read this and agree, and if sasha's parents read this remember its up to you if you want to move and play with a different program. Maybe you would not get all the blame for others mistakes. GO BELCOURT

Shanley is perhaps best known as the school where Sid Cichy produced one of the greatest football dynasties the state has ever seen, leading Shanley to 15 state championships, 11 undefeated seasons and a 59-game winning streak. He finished his 30-year career with a 231-38-3 record. Reply...
