It is always easy to think we know what happened because we caught the bad guy but every story has a deeper truth.  Dru was innocent and yet she was the one that was chosen to be the victum. There is a reason for everything that happened that we may never know but maybe her family is the family that can get this type of crime fully explored.  I pray that we don't condem everyone who has made a mistake. There is always another way to look at any situation and even the most  vial offenders could repent but most of them have no idea what they really did. When we all face death all our mistakes will be seen whether we think it was something bad or not. I am so sorry for Dru's mom and family.   What can we as women do to protect ourselves.   That is one of the main questions.   Seems we can't always leave it to anyone but us.  Take a self defense course if you can.  Wasn't this in a mall parking lot in broad daylight?

Haven't you heard? Lethal injection is cruel and unusual punishment. Have you noticed that they actually clean the area of the injection with an alcohol swab before they insert the needle? What's up with that? Reply...

Rider,  I agree but I am not out to see people suffer, even ones that have caused sever suffering.  I am ok with what the SUPREME COURT SAID.   Lethal Injection is fine.   So , whats the hold up, lets get on with it. 

As a christian of course, I say give them time to repeat, get saved, then  the injection.

In Memory of Mindy Morgenstern, Dru Sjodin and Anita Knutson, all students at North Dakota colleges/universities, we are going Sky Diving to draw Awareness about Vilolent Sexual Offenders.

The KICK OFF to Dru's Dive is scheduled for April 26, 2008 from noon-4:00 p.m. in the SkyDive Fargo Hangar.

Rain or Shine we will have the kickoff! If the weather holds, we will watch the first dives that day! Let's join Linda Walker (Dru's mommy) in her freefall.


Other events will include a band and food and just getting to know other supporters from across the state.
Everyone is welcome to join us at this event. More information coming.


Dives will be scheduled in April to June time frame to accommodate everyone that wants to dive.


Funds will go through the Non-Profit 501 (c) 3 Operation FreeFall and NDCAWS for college scholarships for those that need that "LIFT" of empowerment! YES, it is a tax deduction for those in the need to know.

They might as well as given him life. He is old enough where he will most likely die before a date is set anyway. I find it hard to feel sorry for him. Not only because Dru was my cousin, but after 23 yrs behind bars he obviously didn't let anything soak in. What makes anyone think that a treatment program would do any good. The death penalty, all though highly unlikely in his case, is the only option. Dru fought for her life and lost, now it's his turn. Reply...

Before I became a mother, I was against the death penalty. Now that I have the responibility of raising a productive, kind, beautiful person, I, 100% believe that we as a nation need to put rapists and murderers to death. The only way that we are going to cut our crime rate is by ending the lives of those that have this type of evil in them. If somebody MAKES THE CHOICE to rape or murder, I think that their right to live is forfeited. My child lives in this world and, I want to do everything possible to make it safe and beautiful! The problem here, is that you people don't have your facts straight. "OMG" said, "he needs a bullet to save everyone money". Now, if you'd looked at the statistics, done a little reasearch... you'd know that keeping an inmate on deathrow for the amount of time needed to allow for filing of appeals, paying for the inmate's attorney, court costs for those appeals... it ends up costing much more than it would to keep the person in prison for life.

And I know you'd all love to haul the convicted person off to the gallows right after the trial. That however, can't happen in a democracy. I'm sorry. And it's all about democracy, remember who you voted in as president. ;) To put it in terms you understand... imagine your son, husband, father is arrested for a rape and murder he didn't commit. Wrong place at the wrong time. Believe it or not, it does happen. And we just decide to give your son, husband, father "a bullet to save everyone money". If he's non-white he's even more likely to be falsey convicted. Most people in ND are white, so that statistic probably wouldn't bother you anyway.

Before you accuse me of being a bleeding heart liberal who just wants to hug Alfonso Rodriquez... I'm not for the death penalty because it's not effective, economically or socially. And then there's that whole "now we're as bad as them" dillemma. But we'll ignore that one.

In the end though, I could care less if he ends up being executed. I just hope eventually we'll find better ways to deal with people like him. Reply...
