"Should the question be how much the War on Terror is costing us? Should it be how much has the war on Terror benefitted us? It should be both. Financial costs have been great and so has the loss of our troops. We must never forget, however, the loss of innocent life on September 11 not to mention destruction at the center of our defense department, the Pentagon."
But Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11. The terrorists were not Iraqi - they were mostly Saudi Arabian and a few Afghanis. Iraq also never had weapons of mass destruction. If they had nothing to do with 9/11 and had no WMDs....then WHY are we spending money over there? The War on Iraq is NOT the War on Terror. We need to be focusing on Al Qaeda - by bombing the innocent Iraqis (again, who had NOTHING TO DO with 9/11), we've created an environment friendly to Al Qaeda. $12 billion a month is A LOT of money to spend on a war with people who didn't threaten us. Jerk- Now you are sounding just ridiculous. Me getting up and calling someone that early? Crikey man that is like impossible...LMAO. I will send him an email next week and see if he gets it answered. I am working nights this week so I do not listen to radio, next week I work days a couple times and could listen. Thanks for the idea!! Reply...
Hey Mad Why don't you phone into ED SCHULTZ'S Radio show in the mornings from 9-10:30 on 550 am. And tell Big Eddy your beef with Conrad. Kent is sometimes on Eds show from time to time. With Ed's big mouth Iam sure he could get your question answered.. Reply...
LMAO I love that one blm. Kent Comrade Reply...
It's "Kent Comrade" fellow proletariats. Reply...
Jerk- I have mailed him and he will not give an answer. He is hiding why he gets so much from outsie North Dakota. Why do I care? I care because if he is getting elected from money outside of ND, he is beholding to those who gave him the money and he will vote how they want instead of how we want him to. This is wrong!!! He is representing ND and should vote how we want not how his party wants him to. Reply...
Hey Mad who cares where he got the money from. Theres other crooked politicians out there as well. We got the "Good Ol Boys" right here in Bismarck. And if your that upset about it. Email Mr. Conrad. Iam sure he would be happy to explain it to you. Reply...
start a petition drive to get them removed, also bug them everyday with phone calls and letter. Grassroots is the way to go to get new blood elected. It of course won't get them really removed, but it will show the populace your intentions. Reply...
Jerk- Go to this site and look at the right side. Click on the 2006 cycle. Then click on North Dakota and this tells you exactly what was reported by each person and where it came from.

Why am I so hung up on them? They are our elected officials yet they vote as they please instead of how North Dakotans wish. I fail to see how people would want their senators in the pocket of out of state interests. One example is gay marriage issue. North Dakota voted and passed it overwhelmingly with 72% wanting a law forbidding it. How did they vote? Thay voted against it. Now any congressional person who gave a darn about how their constituents felt would have said hey they want this to be a law, instead they said our party does not want this so I will vote against it.
Proof? I posted the link to the posting where I got my information. I tried to verify these numbers but could not find where they were accessible. If you can show me where I am wrong I will gladly admit it. Guess what? Ask him yourself and he will not give you a straight answer!! If he refuses to say yes I got the money from out of state how is one to take it? He could say I got XX% of donations from in state and we would know. BUT he is unwilling to answer a direct question.
How are they good for ND? They got loans for Imation?YES They secured Bobcat?NO Secure billions of dollars in handouts for farmers year in and year out?YES Or did they take on the Corps and get the level of Lake Sakakawea raised so it is accessible so those who used to make their living off the recreational use of the lake could make an honest living?NO Have they said NO to amnesty for illegals?NO Have they said NO to giving welfare to illegals?NO Have they passed a law to enforce the laws on illegals?NO Have they listened to how North Dakotans as a whole feel and voted for North Dakotans instead of their party?NO
So tell me how they are good for North Dakota please? I bet you will tell me of how much welfare they bring to ND to show how good they are for ND. Reply...
Yes, while Dorgan and Conrad are working on the whole issue in Whapeton, the problem is them bringing in jobs that only employ maybe if we're lucky 20 to 40 people here and there. That doesn't work. We need a larger company to employ more than 100 people and a corporation type business. Look at Tupelo, Mississippi same size town without a base bringing in Toyota plant to employ 2,000 people including keeping the Japanese tradition and bringing 40 Japenese employees and working with the colleges in Mississippi to keep diversity going. Reply...
Hey mad can you prove that Conrad has donations from out of state? Why you so hung up on Dorgan and conrad. Why don't you take a good look at the other 'Good ol boy' network. Like the Govenor,Tax Commisoner, and secretary of state. I think these "EMPTY SUITS" bought and influenced voters to get relected. At least Dorgan is trying to get something done with the IMMATION Plant in Wapeton. Wheres your Empty Suit???? Dorgan,Conrad, and Pomeroy are good for the state. Reply...
I noticed as well when you ask Conrad a question he answers with a non-answer. He spews a bunch of hooey and then says I will keep you in mind next time this comes up. Pomeroy does not even answer the letters when you are not praising him I notice. If you ask him a tough question and ask him to answer you with something other than political mumbo jumbo he simply does not respond.
If I were them I would be ashamed to not give honest answers when constituents ask. Makes me wonder what them guys truly think and believe. Reply...
I agree Conrad and Dorgan need to be taken out of office. They don't stand up for their state when it comes to disasters such as Coleharbor being wiped out, the depleting lake levels, the snow storm in October 2005 in Minot that at least had $1,000,000 damage in Oak Park alone. If they go with party lines, I am suprise they keep open Minot Air Force Base. Then they're not true Democrats either. They need to figure out actually what party they do belong to. Also, they need to start blaming east coast media on why nothing gets done in the state. In turn that says they need better PR and coverage. Also, they need to stop attaching farm bills to everything else too. I wouldn't even know who would be best to run against them for the next election. Another problem is poor PR coordination the Republicans choose to reprsent them, and they need to hammer the beat harder to get heard.
Reply...
I would also like to add that I have sent three letters to Kent Conrad on the subject of his out of state election funding, as well as the out of state money he uses to buy our local candidates like Tracy Potter. (He gave $4,000 in out of state funds to Potter). In every letter, he, as I expected, tip-toed around the subject without ever explaining the funds. Reply...
As said above, the problem is that the massive amounts of money they receive allows them to produce endless amounts of advertising every election cycle. In addition, most North Dakotans re-elect incumbents because they see a familiar name like Conrad, thanks to his out of state ads, and they vote for him because they know the name. We need Hoeven for 2010 against Dorgan. It looks like Ed Schafer is unfortunately retired from politics, so unless someone else like Cory Fong or Wayne Stenehjem steps up and gets into the media a lot during the next couple years, we truly need Hoeven! Reply...
Why DO poeple keep voting for this guy? And for the other one? I CANNOT figure it out....... Reply...
Both those men need to be voted out of ND office!! Reply...
Our congressional delegation is wacked out. These people are bought and paid for. They are mindless zombies that rarely think about the people they represent. The only thing they fight for is usually ag related. Everything else is along party lines. They have no voice in their party and very little pull in washington. Just look at these people. I bet when they go to parties in washington they are put in servers outfits while the real leaders crack jokes at their expence. I want representation of the will of the people, not the will of their party. A change is needed and i pray it will come soon. Reply...
I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately they have been in for so long that it would take someone like Hoeven or Schafer to outdo the millions upon millions that out of state interests use to buy our elections.
If the massive out of state funds that they receive isn't enough, they also pump those funds into local senate races all across the state. It is really awful how out of state interests are able to buy our candidates thanks to Dorgan, Conrad, and Pomeroy.
I've started a website, http://drafthoeven.googlepages.com. It's a grassroots organization trying to convince John Hoeven to run against Dorgan in 2010. I think that is our only hope since, unfortunately, great candidates like Dwight Grotberg just can't compete with those out of state bucks. Reply...
