Good Morning everyone, how are you today? I am not complaining, and who really cares. I am heading out to go to the Bazaars in town this morning all by myself, First Lutheran and another one. I love bazaars and I have extra money, and that is not a good thing. I love the food; First Lutheran makes this yummy creamy turkey sandwich with all the fixings.  So if anyone wants to come, call me, it will be a fun morning, I am leaving in an hour, new friends and good food what else is there.

Curly the netty pot is a great thing, it clears you right out, the first time you do it, you will think I don’t know about this, and then you will be addicted when you get not feeling well. They sell them at CVS also.

Well I am going to go for now, if anyone wants to come call me 720-8001, I’ll pick you up in an hour.

Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly Curly. I use the squeeze bottle, which to me works better than the Neti Pot. I have two...this one...

You pour one of the included packets of salt solution into the empty bottle, then fill it with warm bottled water or distilled water. It does wonders for my sinus's, which have always given me problems since I've been in Minnesota and it's great for preventing flu's since it flushes out all the germs that are nestling in your sinus's. I bought two so that I always have one at home and then one to take on the road. Some doctor on tv said that the H1N1 virus sits in your nasal membranes up to 3 days before it moves into your system, so flushing out your nose every day can help prevent the flu. Reply...

Well, I worked at the big one craft show.  I felt like crap.  I wish I could have stayed home.  I know what I have is not contagious or I would have.  I stopped at medical arts conveinient care clinic and got some anti biotics.  I have a massive sinus infection.  I have a slight temp from it and can't breath thru my nose at all.  She said I should do some hot packs on my face to help loosen up the gunk in there.

Has anyone heard of a netty pot????  She suggested I get one.  Never heard of it.  I am going to try some nasel spray.  Just the saline one.

Oh gosh, what a day I have had.

Oh, and by the way, all three grandkids are sick in Fargo again.  I feel so bad for them and my daughter in law.  She has her hands full that is for sure.

Things have to look up for those little ones pretty soon.  I am going to put a picture of them in my profile in their Halloween costumes.  They all felt pretty good that day.

Why do we keep bringing up the racial issue.  This is a problem with the school and it's lack of options, not some issue over who was here first.  Stick to the topic, please!

But since you bring it up, I have often wondered how people feel about this.

Say you own a plot of land, you are down on your luck so you decide to sell the plot to Mr. John Doe.  Mr. Doe brings cash and it is considered paid in full.  - - - - - - -20 years go by - - - - - - - - Land values go up with time and you regret selling your land.  Can you go and track down Mr. Doe and try to get more money for the land you sold to him all those years ago?  No, you can't.

Even better say you were the person buying the land, how would you feel if the former owner, who you have already paid, tracked you down and demanded that you pay for the land again and again?

I know the land under the lake is getting paid for over and over, but the thing nobody talks about here, is the FACT that there was non-natives that owned land that is under the lake.  No matter if you like it or not, they paid for their land too.  It wasn't them took the Indian's land.  The government made these deals with the Indians.  A lot of times, they drew up shady deals to aquire it.  But the fact is the land was then sold to people that actually worked hard to buy it from them. These people have never had any reimbursement for their land.  Every time I hear the same old argument of how the tribes land was lost when the lake was formed, I think what about the rest of the people that had land that was flooded there.

Now I tend to avoid these arguments as I live in the heart of the reservation, but when I run into narrow minded people on either side of the argument, something needs to be said.

This post is a school issue as far as I can tell, lets keep it as that.   As long as the school is considering itself a PUBLIC school, getting tax money from the US Govt. to operate, then it would be very wrong to ask that non-natives to move away.  Are you stuck in the 50's?  Maybe you miss the days of segregation?  Until we do away with all these negative viewpoints, will we ever getting beyond the race issues.

I have never heard of  Roux. When I make chicken soup, I just use chicken meat, chicken stock, sliced celery, chopped onions, sliced carrots, and the really thin, thin noodles, plus seasonings. At the end, always toss in a couple tablespoons of parsley, for added flavor and to look pretty! It's wonderful and is so good for you!

The only thing I did different with the chicken soup was to brown the diced cooked breast really really brown with onions and a bit of oil and butter. Once everything was in the crock I added a small bit of roux. Roux was equal parts flour butter stirred and cooked not burnt though...roux had got to be added to boiling...not just warm or even hot soup...It seemed to make all the difference with flavor. The stock was just 2 cans broth with the water I had from cooking the breast.  I normally use rice when making chick soup...I had none though so I went with potatoes and carrots, onions, lots of pepper and granulated garlic.  Chicken tends to be blah...at least plain white meat anyway....I was tired of same old baked breast...wanted to do something else.

How is everyone today? Curly...get some rest before your big day...good luck, hope you feel better soon. Reply...

you know this is bs....the native americans owned this land from the very beginning...THE VERY BEGINNING.....and the white people took over their land...if the native americans take the land back to have a reservation, they have all rights to that.....and if the white people are living there....they need to respect the fact that they are living on the reservation and if they dont like it then they can move off the reservation. most people dont see it but they owe native americans alot more than they think they do....by taking over their land they took over their culture and now the tribes have very little of their culture left and they want to value that. It is all about RESPECT for their culture....and if you dont want your child to learn this then move or change schools. and with the tax money bs...excuse you we owe it to them and you know they pay taxes too....so stfu travislee_johnson

Hi everyone!

I have a miserable cold.  I think it is a gift from my 14 yr old grand-daughter.  Thank you Aubrie!!  You could have shared this gift with someone else....

I did not do anything yesterday but sit around and be miserable.  Oh, I did mail off a box to our son in Kosovo.  He wanted a hair clipper, so I sent that and baked some cookies I had made and froze the dough in balls.  that works so slick.  I just make up the dough and freeze it in balls on the cookie sheet.  When they get frozen I put them in a baggie in the freezer to be baked at another time.  Very handy.  If I make double and tripple batches I always have a fresh desert ready if I need one.

Gonna go make some coffee.

Later ladies!

Good Morning everyone, how are you today? I have the soup kitchen today, so it is a busy day, and I am still in pain but I am needed by many. Marilyn you inspired me the other day talking about Chili. I made a Chicken chili, with fresh peppers. I am not really a great Chili person, I make better soups, and I can’t make a hot chili because all the old people complain of gas. Has anyone ever put corn in Chili? I am going to try it, I try to make my soups and chili with some kind of vegetable, and I add vitamins. With the weather getting cold the people need some extra vitamins to fight off cold. I am sorry for some, there are many that come to soup kitchen that just need want someone to visit with, and of cause they all love me.  I also bought sour cream and Cheddar cheese to put on top of the Chili.  Other than that not much happens.

Oh Yes did I Tell you the Yankees Won the World Series, so that means I have to were my Derrick Jeter jersey today, Love that man.

I love you all so much, thanks for being my little computer buds. Theresa

It is really pretty outside right now, I love stars.

Good day all,
Today I am home...I have been making soup in the crock...

I have been facebooking with Shoppe all day. Cooking, no cleaning though, why ruin a perfectly good day off????  LOL!!  We had a big turnout yesterday for voting.  Unfortunately the man I voted for mayor didn't win.  I won't get political in this thread...the gay marriage referendum lost. My local issue was renovating the high school...that won.  good thing...the school is crumbling. Shelbeast will be able to enjoy it...Johnboy will only get a couple of years in the new high school.

Nothing else happening here....

Enjoy your day folks, I'll catch up to ya later...
