well..they do pay a bonus when you complete a level of trade..most trades have two. If you find a job, you also get a bonus.  What they do is give you a two week paycheck of like 25$ or something (your room n board, school and food is paid for along with entertainment on the weekends - - pool, movies, $100 clothing voucher etc) and they match that and keep it in the bank for you so when you leave, you will have some money saved up.  I am pretty sure they pay for 2 years of school..when i went they were in the works with that here in Minot. Some rules to follow..follow their rules, dont get caught up in the games people play there...remember what YOU are there for..(not to find a gf, or just because your friends are going). You get out of it what you put into it. Reply...

Hey guys, I'm 17 and really interested in going into job corp in Minot, ND. I'm not too familiar with the process and I have a few questions. My friend, who also go to Minots job corp, says you get a pay at the end of the year when leaving, like $2000 dollars? Is this true? And also they pay for the first 2 years at a four year college? Thankss Reply...

I went to school in Washington DC and they have a school named after Malcolm X I guess when you have a wanna be  racist sunni muslim then one can never have enough monuments to themselves... I wonder if they have one for the David Duke, maybe we should be asking the National Park service who felt no guilt about handing out this cash to these parks Reply...

So who approved this stupid decision...who signed on the dotted line to DIVERT THE FUNDS!!! This BURNS ME!!!

Even with forest fires raging out West, the U.S. Forest Service this week announced it will spend nearly $2.8 million in forest-fire-fighting money in Washington — a city with no national forests and where the last major fire was probably lit by British troops in 1814.

The D.C. aid is going to two programs: $90,000 is slated for a green summer job corps, but the vast majority of the money — $2.7 million — is going to Washington Parks & People, which sponsors park festivals and refurbishes urban parks in the Washington area.

Forest Service officials didn't return messages left seeking comment on why they spent money from their "wildland fire mitigation" stimulus fund in Washington, but members of Congress said city parks don't deserve the money while fires are scorching millions of acres of land and owners are losing homes.

"As catastrophic wildfires continue to burn throughout the West, destroying people's homes and businesses in the process, funds that should be used to thin our overgrown forests and protect the public are being frivolously spent on park restoration," said Rep. Wally Herger, a California Republican whose district has seen some of the worst fires. "While the administration is spending millions of taxpayer dollars on improving picnic grounds, communities and citizens' lives tragically remain at risk."

The $2.7 million in stimulus aid also appeared to come as a surprise to the folks at Washington Parks & People.

the pics are very interesting.  I didnt even know about the hospital until it was mentioned here!  Reminded me of when the VA hospital was in Minot..n then it was demolished and the Job Corps center is in its place.  Those buildings still get "visited" from time to time.  The womens dorm mainly..thats where the morgue was Reply...

It is truly sad how the deceased can not even have a decent resting place with out some form of evil invading with it.

It is terrible to see grave sites defaced.    What can be done?  Who will do anything?    Part of the problem is that we do not have enough jails, and these young or old punks that do it are let back out.    You probably do not have enough  money or manpower to  watch these cemeteries.

Prariefire,  nice gesture to plant the flowers.   You have a good heart.

Has anyone noticed that the crime rate has gone up since the job corps came into Minot!! I am not saying that all who go there are trouble but there are some who have been sentenced here by a judge because they are infact trouble!!!

Shoppe: This post was not for that type of humor it was uncalled for as this is a serious issue and it needs to be brought to attention to our local people i for one did not know that this happened and it really is scary to know that our town is being vandalized and uncared for by certain people! so please when it comes to this type of a discussion do not make any more comments like that!!

I feel for you and this room... I see this type of defacing all the time... We keep posting the defiling of graves always... But all we can do is pray... The ones who are gone aren't worried about their headstone... they just know that people like you care....Im always trying to plant flowers at sites we see defiled...

Marilyn if it was your friends daughter that was killed amost 2 years ago with no justice in sight how would you feel about the MPD?  How can a family rest knowing that there is a killer out there that did horrible things to your daughter. They srewed up the case from the start and wouldn't call the FBI in until they sarted getting flack from the family and friends. The PD for our county is wonderful and no it's not Minot. It's in ND not MN.

sneakycat, we have a neighborhood watch group on our street. We live on a deadend street and everyone here is a homeowner, no renters. If we see someone strange walking down the street, we go out and ask them where they're coming from and where they're going to. We make sure they know we're watching them. We won't be passive when it comes to keeping our neighborhood safe. Sometimes you just have to step up to the plate and start something on your own. Reply...

Brats @ Beer, you have no idea what the MPD knows or don't know. Sometimes there is a suspect but you don't dare make an arrest until you are sure you have enough evidence to make the charge stick. I've seen that take years. The MPD will get the guilty party...it might not be in YOUR time frame, but they'll get him. BTW - you don't drive a train, you run the engine...and that comes from engineers that have been running the engines for 35 years. :)

BTW Brats @ Beer, next time you need police assitance, call a gang banger... see how fast they react and how likely they are to put their lives on the line for yours.
