KX, you may be right. He must have read what he "Knows" on Redstates, or some other wingbat site. He sure wasn't there. He has no clue about what was going on in those days...
HOWEVER
He's right in one respect, as I posted a few days ago. Our guys WERE treated terribly when they returned, because nobody understood that the troops and the government were not on the same page.
That happens whenever the right takes over.

Jack
You are truly a lunatic..living in a world of your own invention, where the truth is a lie, and lies are the truth...and reality is your worst enemy. You just make up your own reality as you go along..which is fine, as long as you don't try to inflict it on the rest of us...

I just want to show you up as an example of what can happen if you actually believe all that crap ladled out by the vast right wing propaganda machine.
You make it easy for me. Reply...

kx - it was not conservatism that caused the soldier to huddle and hide in shame for serving, it was the leftists then, and it is the leftists now.  When you've got the likes of John Kerry and Murtha and Reid calling our soldiers murderers and torturers and calling it a lost war, how would you feel if you were serving over there now?....... probably not much different than when you were in Nam.

Wry is another story, I don't believe his attacks on me or others have anything to do with his serving, it's more of his unabashed love of liberalism, and he gets highly offended if you attack that agenda, and he takes it too personally.........

Wry , but I don't think jack is from that era, much younger.  He has no idea what it is to serve in a turbulent time.  Those who do not know is not their fault.  We havent done a good enough job of letting them know.  We huddled and hid in shame for serving .  It was not a time to be proud of serving,  I was still scared getting off the plane at home, I had seen the protests, the treatment of vets who did make it home.  I was scared of the public and the first thing I did was take the uniform off, and try to mingel in. Sometimes I am still trying to mingle in and not be noticed.

My son is 29 years old.  I remember him asking me about Vietnam once.  I didnt know what to say or tell him.  If I could talk about it in front of someone without crying tears of the things I remember seeing, and bringing me back to something I do not want to relive over and over and over again .   All I know they do not have the willingness to serve, they do not have the patriotism I had.   I was stupid and young and both my sons share the belief of life and not killing.  My youngest wont pick up a gun and that is fine in my eyes.  It shows me he is deaper in thought than I was at his age.  So maybe by not telling him what it was like was the best thing I could have done.  He has never asked me again and I think he knows by what I dont say rather than what I tell him.  I never tell them what to think about war and dieing.

I'd rather just go fishing.

Right Jack..you keep on believing that...Nixon..got kicked out..Congress cut off funding for 'nam, The whole country rose from its ashes, and you're still whining...
But whining is what you do. If you ever stopped whining, you'd have to change your name, because you wouldn't be Jack anymore.
But that's never going to happen. you'll be whining from your grave. You're still pissing and moaning over getting your butt kicked 35 years ago. You were a loser then, and you're a loser today...Like whining, it's part of what makes you what you are.

Poor Jack, he still can't get over the fact that the "Hippies" kicked him and every wingbat notion he stands for, out of office, in the 70s.
He's still fighting that war...He's still the same sorry loser he always was.

PEACE SYMBOL or a BROKEN UPSIDE-DOWN CROSS: Like many simple symbols, it meant different things at different times. Some call it Nero's cross, linking it to the notorious Roman emperor who persecuted Christians. Centuries later, it was recognized as an old Norse Rune. After WW2 (1939-1945), it was found on the tombstones of some of Hitler's SS troops and labeled 'The Dead Man Rune.' Revived in the sixties by hippies and others who protested nuclear weapons, Western culture, and Christian values, it became a worldwide symbol of a new age of global peace and earth-centered unity. But many heavy metal rock fans would agree with Nero and have used it to mock Christ and His followers.

Shoppe.....I stand corrected. I had been told a number of years ago that that is what it symbolized originally.  However, as I have just read, originally it was very ANTI-Christian. See: Nero's Cross.

I retract my above post.
