Man thrown in slammer for legally buying guns.
Concerns about an Oregon Department of Transportation employee who purchased several guns after being placed on leave prompted law enforcement across Southern Oregon to step in.
Negotiators and a SWAT team from Medford police safely took a man — whose name wasn’t released — into protective custody Monday morning in the 500 block of Effie Street, Medford police said in a news release.
He was taken to Rogue Valley Medical Center for a mental-health evaluation.
The man recently had been placed on administrative leave from his job and was “very disgruntled,” the news release said.
ODOT Communications Director Patrick Cooney said there were administrative, personnel matters involved that limited what the department could discuss.
However, the state agency had reported concerns about the man to law enforcement agencies, who started monitoring him, officials said.
“We had concerning information regarding a personnel issue and were watching the subject,” Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters said.
In two days, the man bought a Heckler & Koch .45-caliber universal self-loading handgun, a Walther .380-caliber handgun and an AK-47 assault rifle, Medford police Lt. Bob Hansen said. All of those firearms were purchased legally, with required record checks by the Oregon State Police.
Authorities were “extremely concerned” that the man may have been planning to retaliate against his employers, the news release said.
“Instead of being reactive, we took a proactive approach,” OSP Sgt. Jeff Proulx said.
Douglas and Jackson County sheriff’s departments, OSP officers based in both counties and police in Medford and Roseburg collaborated, he said.
Medford police watched the man’s home overnight, starting at about 9 p.m. Sunday, Hansen said.
Because he was known to have weapons, police wanted to defuse the situation and ensure the man wasn’t a danger to himself or others before the neighborhood awakened and people started their daily activities, Hansen said.
Medford’s hostage negotiators and SWAT team were called in at 3 a.m. Monday and arrived on the scene at about 5:45 a.m., he said.
About a dozen officers responded. They closed the street for about an hour and evacuated three homes to protect neighbors and prevent bystanders from gathering, he said.
After a phone conversation with negotiators, the man — who was alone in the home — agreed to come out, Hansen said.
Police seized the recently purchased firearms, as well as another .45-caliber Heckler & Koch handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun. Police are holding the weapons for safekeeping, but no criminal charges have been filed. Reply...
I want to add my 2 cents in this hot topic, let me say first that I fought tooth and nail for the custody of my son, all the way to supreme court, and before they gave us our decision from supreme court she just handed my son over to me,(he was 16) she was starting her next divorce and she did not have the time or place to take care of my son, 10 months later the courts finally changed the CS payments from me to her and she has just now started to pay me, its been just over a year ago now that my son has been with me, his grades have gone up, he is happier and seems to be enjoying life with a smile on his face! I think he is a happier person now.
this all started back in 2000, it was her who had an affair, it was her who left with my son, it was her who filed for divorce, it was her who left town with my son, it was her who lied in court, it was her who got custody of my son, it was her who laughed about it with some of our mutual friends thinking it was funny, it was her who seemed to have lots of money with working, getting remarried, and getting child support, it was my son who suffered by having to sleep on the floor for 3 years for lack of having a bed, he suffered in school as I was the one who made sure he did his work and passed his tests, I suffered, my family suffered, all over a poorly run system, we lost a lot of time together that we will never get back due to this system and poor judgement from judges, (about 4 different ones) she was able to lie, drink and party, run like a dog in heat, and is now looking for hubby #3, I was husband #1, she hurt alot of others in the last divorce and thats not over yet! and more kids were hurt, she is in the same place right now as she was 20 years ago, broke with nothing! and she will do it again just as soon as she can find the next one! its really to bad that things go this way, I know that my situation is like many others, the law shines on the women as care giver and the men are just working mules who bring home the money, not true anymore! I know many men, who, like me could and would do a better job raising the kids than the mother would! something needs to be done!! my fight is about over once my son turns 18, but many of the men are just getting into it, I think there should be a much better way to pick the "lessor" out of a set of parents so the children could have the best chance right out of the gate, also perhaps there should be a law of some sort to make them do some counceling before a divorce is granted..... anything would be better then what we have to work with now. Hurry!!! RED ALERT!!! Everyone git off yer ass and go out and buy as many fishing rods as you can, immediately...Obama is going to ban fishing!!!!...dasrite, FISHING! Man, aint there no sacred **** no more? Anywaze, this is his latest socialist scheme...or is it more an atheist thing?
Limbaugh "Fishing is about to become a privilege controlled by Barack Obama."
Bolling and Fox "News" run with the claim that Obama is going to "prohibit fishing."
Actually, what's going on here is that when the right wing windbags - - who have a constituency so utterly flake assed retarded and brain dead that they will believe even the most grotesque horse**** ( in fact, they prefer grotesque horse**** to regular horse****) - - told everyone that O was going to take their guns away, gun sales immediately went through the roof. The fishing rod guys, seeing in this a great opportunity, realized that if they could get enough pinheads to believe that he was also going to do the same thing with fishing rods that they, too, could reap windfall profits. Limbaugh and other repulsive, fatass cornballs like Roger Ailes at Fox immediately jumped on board and started spreading the word.
Anyway, look for a huge increase in really, fat, stupid "sportsmen" on your favorite stream this spring, probably sitting in the very middle of the stream, fishing out the window of their 34 foot long "pickups." Do not be surprised if some of these confused homo sappyens bait their hooks with their own peckers...all the while wondering why they get such a nasty pain in Mr. Weenie every time they put the worm on the hook. This could catch on big time.
If the left had any moxie, they would roll out a campaign claiming that Obama was going to ban fuel effiicient vehicles. In the blink of Limbaugh's drug addled eyelid, every fat GOOP in the nation would immediately abandon his oversize, fatass truck in a ditch and run to the nearest car dealer to buy a solar powered roller skate to transport his fat, goofy ass around on.
And some people actually imagine that these *******s aren't laughing their bloated asses off when they say this ****? In fact it's now become an inside joke and kind of a contest with them to see how ridiculous a load of **** "conservatives " will actually buy.
Well, I gotto get out and buy some Orvis stock...or maybe just set up a stink bait stand. These boys prefer bottom fishing.

Another Self-Loathing Gay GOP Scumbag is Pushed Out of the Closet You gotta wonder who was about to blackmail Roy Ashburn for him to come out during a radio interview. Well, wonder no more. In case you haven't been following this story, Ashburn essentially outed himself not once but twice. Says the LA Times: A Republican state senator from conservative Bakersfield said Monday that he is homosexual, days after a report that he had been at a gay nightclub in Sacramento before being arrested on drunk driving charges while behind the wheel of his state car last week. It ought to be noted that Ashburn is a married man and father of four. Now, the infidelity shown by Republicans just in the past year or two involving Larry Craig, John Ensign, Mark Sanford, David Vitter and Ashburn's fellow California legislator and all-around douchebag Mike Duvall is galling enough. But, like Larry Craig and Ted Haggard, here's yet another case of a man who was not only forced to admit trolling for **** behind his wife's back but he's also racked up one of the most despicable gay rights voting records in the entire California state legislature. Says CNN Politics: Last year, he voted against a bill to recognize out-of-state, same-sex marriages and against a bill proclaiming May 22 as "Harvey Milk Day," named after the first openly gay man elected to public office in California. Obviously, this is also a man who lauded Proposition H8, the 2008 election day referendum that immediately ended gay marriage in California. Amazingly, when he essentially crashed out of the closet in a drunken stupor (not his first driving offense, by the way), he was publicly lauded by his fellow Republicans as if he'd done something on a par with finding a cure for cancer or singlehandedly taking the Remagen Bridge. It was reminiscent of Tom DeLay calling Duke "Whoremeister" Cunningham "a hero" and "an honorable man of high integrity" and the standing ovation given to David "Huggies" Vitter by his fellow Republicans. But it's the infuriating hypocrisy that never ceases to outrage me. Here's a married man and father of four skulking around gay bars with the obvious intention of cheating on his wife and making a mockery of his marriage vows yet he votes against two men or two women marrying each other because that's the real threat to "traditional" marriage, don't you know? And you'd think that barreling out of the closet in an alcoholic haze and admitting that he's a typical Republican philanderer would chasten him, that common decency and being brought down a few notches from his moral high horse would result in a more conciliatory position regarding gay rights. But this is a Republican we're talking about. Ashburn promises to keep voting in his usual, self-loathing way because that's what his constituents would want, so he says. And every Republican in Sacramento who patted him on the back and put their hands together for him is essentially saying, "It's OK if you cheated on your wife trolling for **** in the dead of night. Full disclosure is heroic even when you're forced to come out because you were pulled over in your state vehicle with a blood alcohol count of .014." In short, every Republican who treated him like a hero is also showing their contempt for traditional marriage. Every hand put on Ashburn's back was a slap in the face to gay rights activists who have been struggling for even a modicum of the same rights enjoyed by hypocritical, self-loathing Republican scumbags like Mike Duvall and Roy Ashburn. US 'hid terror suspect treatment'
The former head of MI5 has claimed US intelligence agencies "concealed" their mistreatment of terror suspects. Baroness Eliza Manningham-Buller said she only discovered alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was waterboarded after retiring in 2007. In a lecture at the House of Lords, she said the US had been "very keen to conceal from us what was happening". Her comments follow controversy over UK agents' alleged collusion with US counterparts using torture techniques.
Last month it emerged that Binyam Mohamed, a British resident formerly held at Guantanamo Bay, had been subjected to "cruel, inhuman and degrading" treatment. Ministers and current MI5 head Jonathan Evans have insisted that there was no collusion by UK security officers.
ANALYSIS By Gordon Corera, security correspondent, BBC News Eliza Manningham-Buller's intervention has provided a few more insights into the contentious issue of what the UK knew about the US treatment of detainees but it does not provide us with a full picture or final answers. From what she said, it is clear that in at least one case the UK learned of mistreatment and lodged protests with the US. But in other instances, notably the case of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Lady Manningham-Buller indicated the service had not known that he was waterboarded. In the crucial case of Binyam Mohamed, we know that MI5 at some point did receive documents from the US detailing his treatment in Pakistan but we do not know who exactly saw these and at what stage. Answering the question of who knew what and when will be central to the ongoing police investigation into possibly complicity in torture.
However, questions remain about exactly when they learnt that the US apparently changed its rules on torture after the 9/11 attacks. Lady Manningham-Buller, who headed MI5 between 2002 and 2007, said: "The Americans were very keen that people like us did not discover what they were doing." In a lecture at an event organised by the Mile End Group, she said she had wondered, in 2002 and 2003, how the US had been able to supply the UK with intelligence from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and was told that he was "very proud of his achievements when questioned about it". "It wasn't actually until after I retired that I read that, in fact, he had been waterboarded 160 times," she said. Lady Manningham-Buller said the government had lodged "protests" with the US about its treatment of detainees, but refused to go into further detail. Mistreatment A Foreign Office spokeswoman was not prepared to comment on the former MI5 chief's comments. She said the Foreign Office could not, at this stage, find any details of protests lodged by the British government with the US over the treatment of detainees. BBC security correspondent Gordon Corera said Lady Manningham-Buller's remarks were an acknowledgement MI5 had been slow to realise what the US was doing. However, he said, there was still not a complete picture of what happened. "It is clear that at some point documents came to the UK saying he [Binyam Mohamed] had been mistreated by the US. What we don't know is exactly when those documents came and... who saw them," he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

Waterboarding sessions brought detainees ‘close to death’: report
The waterboarding sessions that terrorist suspects were subjected to during the Bush administration were "administered with meticulous cruelty" and were in part designed so that detainees acted as "guinea pigs" for future interrogation sessions, says an exhaustive new report. The report also shows that the interrogation methods were so harsh that some detainees "simply gave up and tried to let themselves drown."Drawing on numerous documents about the CIA's torture program that have been released over the past year, Mark Benjamin at Salon.com reports that interrogators went to extreme lengths to ensure that detainees were pushed to their physical limits, including feeding the detainees a liquid diet to make them more capable of ingesting large quantities of water, and replacing their water with a saline solution that would keep detainees from dying when they ingested too much water. [T]he CIA forced such massive quantities of water into the mouths and noses of detainees, prisoners inevitably swallowed huge amounts of liquid – enough to conceivably kill them from hyponatremia, a rare but deadly condition in which ingesting enormous quantities of water results in a dangerously low concentration of sodium in the blood.
Benjamin notes that, according to a leaked 2007 report from the Red Cross, doctors were present at the sessions and measured detainees' blood oxygen levels, allowing interrogators to bring detainees "close to death - - but help them from crossing the line. Benjamin reports that the waterboarding sessions were "so excruciating" that some detainees simply decided not to struggle and let themselves drown."In our limited experience, extensive sustained use of the waterboard can introduce new risks," the article quotes the CIA's Office of Medical Services in a 2003 memo. "Most seriously, for reasons of physical fatigue or psychological resignation, the subject may simply give up, allowing excessive filling of the airways and loss of consciousness."That same memo "seems to say that the detainees subjected to waterboarding were also guinea pigs," Benjamin reports. He cites the last paragraph of that report, which states that "[i]n order to best inform future medical judgments and recommendations, it is important that every application of the waterboard be thoroughly documented...."Spencer Ackerman at the Washington Independent reports that the details of waterboarding revealed in recently released documents back up the claims of Abu Zubaydah, the high-profile terror suspect who was waterboarded 183 times in one month. "It’s one thing for a terrorist to testify to ill treatment," Ackerman writes. "It’s another for CIA documentation to corroborate his account. Clearly Abu Zubaydah was drowned. As Benjamin observes, this is not the “dunking” that Dick Cheney describes. Whatever apologists like Marc Thiessen might say, the people who performed this torture knew full well that they were torturing people like Abu Zubaydah." Benjamin describes the "meticulous cruelty" with which the waterboarding program was carried out. The agency used a gurney "specially designed" to tilt backwards at a perfect angle to maximize the water entering the prisoner's nose and mouth, intensifying the sense of choking – and to be lifted upright quickly in the event that a prisoner stopped breathing... Interrogators were instructed to start pouring water right after a detainee exhaled, to ensure he inhaled water, not air, in his next breath. They could use their hands to "dam the runoff" and prevent water from spilling out of a detainee's mouth. They were allowed six separate 40-second "applications" of liquid in each two-hour session – and could dump water over a detainee's nose and mouth for a total of 12 minutes a day. Finally, to keep detainees alive even if they inhaled their own vomit during a session – a not-uncommon side effect of waterboarding – the prisoners were kept on a liquid diet. The agency recommended Ensure Plus.
"The so-called science here is a total departure from any ethics or any legitimate purpose," the article quotes Dr. Scott Allen of the Center for Prisoner Health and Human Rights. "They are saying, ‘This is how risky and harmful the procedure is, but we are still going to do it.' It just sounds like lunacy. ... This fine-tuning of torture is unethical, incompetent and a disgrace to medicine." Many details of the waterboarding program - - from its controversial green-lighting by White House lawyers to its execution - - have been made public through document releases over the past year. Most recently, a report from the Justice Department's Office of Professional Responsibility found that the torture memo authors - - lawyers Jay Bybee and John Yoo - - showed "poor conduct" in sanctioning the practice, but should avoid legal responsibility because their behavior didn't rise to a violation of professional obligations. That report unveiled a number of interesting details about the enhanced interrogation program, including evidence that the psychologists involved in designing the interrogations wanted to use mock burials to intimidate detainees. Single Baby Mama.
What are you doing to make sure your child has what it needs? Are you working, going to school? what.
Are you also not having unprotected sex anymore?
What are you doing for this child? How many do you have?
Yes, its mostly up to the women. And most are making terrible decisions.
To single women reading this post. Be cautious of any "boyfriends" you bring into the relationship. It will hurt your kids. You kids will think of this boyfriend as daddy, and he will probably leave you.. Look for a MARRIAGE relationship, not shack ups or one nighters. Too many "boyfriends" abuse the children from another relationship. its very dangerous for the child.
Stay out of bars and doing drugs, your kids need you.
If you can't be the mom you should be, ADOPT THE CHILD OUT. Give the child a chance.

~anonymous~ ID#: 32489 My tears go out to you! The Child Support System sucks! Even though I need help, I would NEVER go to them! I will struggle everyday, and me and my child will make it the best we can. I feel the CS system are crooks! I feel sorry for any man/woman who has to be put in the system. It's a lose/lose situation. You can lose all you have, go hungry and die for they care. I watched how my best friend drug her kids father through the sirt whild she sat and laughed. I would like to ask a question... If I can't afford to buy my child that special pair of shoes that she wants, or that designer outfit that she wants, should I be locked up, put in jail? Reply...
I just think there are a lot of women out there who abuse the Child Support System! People say women have to pay the rent, wash the kids clothes, buy them food, cloth them, BUT... half the women who receive child support are on welfare, receiveing foodstamps, or are remarried. I don't care for the child support system or agree with their ways in anyway. If a father gets their child every weekend, every holiday, and every summer, they still have to pay the mother even though they have the child just has much as she does.
Most of the time, men are only on CS because the mother is jealous of their lives or still want them in some sort of way. I agree, men shoul use protection when having sex, but us as women should really be more careful!!!!! It starts with us, and it ends with us. I think the goverment should find a way for single mothers who have never been married to not be able to file for CS. I bet there will be less babies out of wedlock! I think a lot of women use their children to trap ther father, or just for money! I myself have seen cases where baby mamas get money and spend it on themselves and the kids look homeless! There needs to be a better plan for CS! Signing off.... A Single Baby Mother! Reply...
