Van Hollen on gas, drilling and the Petroleum Reserve...Jul 12 2008 11:26AM
Associated Press UNDATED (AP) The Democrats' weekly radio message takes aim at high Gas Prices and blames the current energy woes on Republicans. Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen says Americans "are fed up every time they go to fill up." He says taxpayers have demanded action from Washington, but that President Bush and the GOP respond with the "same old line" about the need for more oil drilling. Van Hollen says Democrats support more drilling, but that oil companies aren't using the areas already opened to them. He says the U.S. needs to focus on new energy policies that feature alternatives to oil. He's also urging the nation to tap into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. As he puts it, "America's rainy day is now." % |
