We had no real purpose for invading and occupying Iraq other than to enrich defense contractors.   The US military exists to protect and defend the United States from enemies and threats.

Iraq posed no credible threat to the United States.

US citizens who have chosen to be a part of the US military realize how the Bush administration lied to the American  public.

rugby's ""Support the troops.  Bring them home.  End the occupation of Iraq.""

.....somehow, rubgy does seem to think the purpose of the military is to sit (on their arses) on U.S. soil and wait for the day they can start suckling on the government teat, the military pension.  We all can see why he is so bitter, he wasn't allow to just sit......he should have had his gun taken away a long time ago with his attitude............

The only thing that changed is that America fell further behind...a trend started with Bush's assumption of the office of president.
One of the factors in the decline of America was the brainwashing of a certain segment of the American population..This started when Bush invented the "cut and run" tactic, in Afghanistan, where he snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, and, through the use of his newly minted "office of special projects, he convinced the gullible..the dimwitted, and the "lost", that what was good for them was bad, what was bad for them was good, that the truth was a lie, and lies were the truth.
Over time, a considerable percentage of this cult, was rehabilitated, but holdouts remain..as exhibited here.
Still lost, still convinced that what's good for them is bad, and what's not in their best interests is good, that the truth is a lie, and lies are the truth.
They've taken a licking..but they're still ticking...
They're examples of the effects of propaganda..

Republicans firing back on B.O.'s Terror Policy.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/05/05/republicans-attacking-obama-terror-policy/

This is one paragraph from the article:

In late April, Gingrich likened the chief executive to former President Jimmy Carter, who was in office in the late 1970s when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan and when militants took hostages at the U.S. Embassy in Iran.

"Carter tried weakness and the world got tougher and tougher because the predators, the aggressors, the anti-Americans, the dictators, when they sense weakness, they all start pushing ahead," Gingrich said on FOX News.

"What I find distressing," he said, "is that the administration opposes opening up oil exploration," but yet Obama has "bowed to the king of Saudi Arabia" and now reached out to Chavez, whom Gingrich said has been conducting "a vicious anti-American campaign." The White House denies that Obama bowed to the king.

"Iraq Veterans Against the War".

This would be like "McDonalds Employees Against Burgers".

The job of the military is to fight wars. Many enlist who don't want to fight the wars. This would be like taking a job with McDonalds and not wanting to make burgers.

Cheney lied when he made his statement almost two months ago.

I'm by no  means an Obama supporter, but the Bushies need to be called on their BS.

The invasion and occupation of Iraq are a blight on the US record.  Those who advocate and support the invasion and occupation of Iraq are delusional and misguided, and possibly even criminal.

Support the troops.  Bring them home.  End the occupation of Iraq.
