After years of observing my dog (the dog I have now and the ones before her) eating out of the cat's litter box (when she sneaks and gets by with it) , I have finally had the bright idea that I can recycle that kitty poop, box it up and sell it for doggie treats.  I will call it "Gritty ****ties", the treat every dog loves.  I've always said that cleaning the litter box is like panning for gold.  Now I can make it come true.

Look for it at your local pet food store in the near future.

I know what you mean about the web store - I definitely would need to start with some consignment at a couple of stores I know and hope to build it to make it viable.   I also know that I can't quit my day job in the foreseeable future!  I am hoping to build it so that by the time I can retire, it's extra income to supplement my retirement income.  Thanks for the insight and it would be neat to see some pictures of the items you made. You could call it a gallery,  we would also take custom orders and let the customer help design their piece of furniture.  I would do it again,  I met some great people in the process and gained an education of the business world.

I would not rely solely on a web store,  but that would be a good base for your business.   You could try to consign at a local store that would cater to the style of customer  you are after,   expect to pay 30 - 40% consignment fee of the selling price to the store owner though.   Ebay would be another area to look at,  smaller items in flat rate shipping boxes work well there.   You will have to find your customers,  don't expect to put up a web store and have them flocking to you, you will have to know what they want, how much they want to spend,  where they shop.

I love handmade furniture!  So, it was like a gallery for artists, all handmade items, right?  Would you do it again with a different product line that wasn't so labor intensive? I've thought about an on line store to start with.  I started to research the laws for this state and on line businesses and boy, do I have a lot to learn! Reply...

I did.  I built log furniture as a hobby out in oregon and turned it into a business and storefront all at once.   My wife ran the store and I built the furniture.   We also sold around 12 other various artists goods and ordered in other log home accessories from catalogs.   It was fun at times and trying during other times.  At the end we had 1 full time employee and 3 part time employees.  We sold the business after 10 years.  I have no desire to build another piece of log furniture again,  I was burnt out in the end but learned more about running a business than they could teach you in school.

Yes spaying and neutering is expensive, but I don't think they require you to get shots at the same time. That wouldn't be legal. The city can require a rabies shot/tag, but the vet can't enforce it. You don't necessarily have to get your dog fixed...just don't let it run loose. Fenced yard, etc.. that does the trick. #1 daughter never spays her dogs and they never get pg. They don't run loose. Spay and neutering is very expensive snow... More people would do it if it were free or extremely cheap.

When I got my animals all fixed, we had to also pay for the office visit, and they were required to have all shots up to date.   Then the surgury cost... so I did have all my animals fixed,  but it was costly.

That is what will help the overpopulation... $10 spay and neuter clinics....

Well if the Economy keeps being like it is, there will be alot more cruelity to animals because people can't afford food much less pet food. And I expect alot more poaching to be coming, people will start hunting for food and they won't be waiting for a season opener. I know a few people who are already doing it and I see no wrong as long as they don't waste it. Who knows, maybe I will have to too before too long. Reply...

Prairie, when we see animal abuse/neglect, we need to speak up and do something about it. The animals can't speak up, so we have to do it for them. Am I still confusing? Reply...

One thing you absolutely cannot do is just stand there and watch it. You have to step up and be their voice. Protect them, speak for them. See that they get JUSTICE! They can't do it themselves, so we have to. Reply...

In Article: PET FOOD RECAL??
I'd love to have a cat again, but know the bostons would terrorize him. If and when I do get another cat, it will be a Maine Coon. They get up to 35 pounds and are the size of a small ****er spaniel. They can stand up to little dogs no problem. We had to put our 17 year old cat to sleep last year. She had kidney disease, which is common in old cats I guess. We got her at the Minot dog pound when she was 3 years old. She came spayed and declawed. It's a shame her owners didn't think to check the pound to find her. She was the best cat we ever had. I think people think just dogs are at the pound. Reply...

We have 5 dogs and love each one of them. Cookie, one of our Boston Terriers had to have her teeth cleaned and 2 teeth pulled last week. $208. Between the dogs and our insurance premiums, hubby and I keep busy working. We're blessed to have that work to do and wouldn't have it any other way. When a person gets an animal, there's an invisible contract there that says you'll take care of that animal in all circumstances and you'll give him the best life possible. I feel sad for the dogs that live out in back yards on chains or in kennels. Dogs are pack animals...they need constant companionship.

It would be interesting to see what pets KX people have... Reply...
