That is incorrect. Jesus was not a liberal. He was a conservative. It is impossible to be both a liberal and a Christian because every liberal value is the exact oposite of the Bible and the Ten Commandments. That is why Democrats only go to church for photo ops. Reply...

Then I guess that starts with  you and me.   Its not always easy,  but we can sure sin a lot less if we try hard enough.

Pastors (and congregations) that sin are what causes most people to not want to join a church.  Or become a Christian.

I will ask something on this post that I saw on facebook today:

If you are a Christian say so, here and now..

Say it loud.

I am a christian and Love the Lord.   vivian

neither, shopp, I am just showing everyone that I am a  person who was saved by grace and that just because I am saved doesn't mean I am perfect.

I also wanted to say that I don't make excuses, justify or compromise. If its wrong its wrong, if its sin its sin. Too many times Christians put on this fake show and behind the scenes they are worse then those who don't even serve God. Ask any PK (Preachers Kid) and they will give you an ear-full.

I just try to keep everything as real as possible. By doing that I think it is offensive to the fakers. I have been in churches where the Pastor was addicted to pain killers, instead of admitting it and seeking prayer he hid it, justified it, and made excuses for it. I've been in churches where Pastors would purposely preach warm fuzzys to a person because he tithed 1100 a month. He compromised telling the truth so as to not offend "Brother Bone"

cause if he left the church the doors would shut. Thats what the scripture means when it talks about tickling the ears. I was told  that if I didn't expose (speak out and against) some things I would have been given my own ministry in the church. So you see the church is in bad bad shape and I ain't down for it. If your doing things in the dark I am going to expose it with a flashlight. I know there are two main things that causes a Pastor to fall.....one is sex and the other is money. Those two appeal to the flesh and those are usually the ones that bring them down. I do not wish that on anyone, it causes many to lose faith and many leave the church because of it. The reason why the churches aren't packed out is because of the Christians. Its because unbelievers see the hypocrisy in it and don't want anything to do with Christianity. They see the greed, they see the fakeness, they see the compromise, they see the excuses. Until Christians start living the life instead of playing the part nothing will change.

ummmmmm.....because I'm a sinner...

I see a nice looking girl during half time and I check her out (lust)

I get behind a slow driver and they push my buttons. (anger)

I scream at the kids  and say things that are NOT of God.

I get angry at my wife when she doesn't want to have sex.

I get angry at people on this board when they defend a false religion.

I get urges to want to fight when somebody does me wrong.

I sin when I don't trust God for every situation.

I sin when I harbor bitterness.

I sin when I do not forgive.

I sin when I say or think someone is an idiot.

I sin when I put something before God. (idolatry)

I sin when I ...........................well you get the idea.

Those who have been forgiven much loves much. I love the truth, I don't care what that truth is as long as its the truth. Why else would I be calling out false religions and pagan holidays?

What real personal gain do I have in doing that?

You see I know I am a sinner, I make no excuses for it. I do not justify it nor do I rationalize, or marginalize it. Sin is Sin, call it for what it is and move on.

My prayers kind of goes something like this:

Lord I blew it again, forgive me.

Good Morning,

Coffee4me, I encourage you to look at this Catholic Website and show me where the 2nd Commandment is:

http://www.roman-catholic-catechism.com/catholic-ten-commandments.html

Here is what is suppose to be there:

Exodus 20:4-5 (New King James Version) 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;  you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

I could provide pictures of practicing Catholics bowing down and praying to these statues but if you want to seriously understand the truth google Pope bowing to false gods.

Here you go I did it for you:

http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/False%20Religions/Russian_Orthodox/orthodox_idolatry.htm

Notice the adoration and honor, reverence that is given to these graven images. They have kneelers infront of these idols and no one can dispute the worship of the Pope holding out his hand to be kissed.

So coffee4me I encourage you to look into these pictures and re-read Exodus 20:4-5 in your bible.

Ok ND,

Now I read through your link concerning Pride and Legalism. I want to give you my take on it:

Legalism: An example of legalism is this: Say I have a problem with porn and I use my computer to view porn on the internet, does that make owning a computer wrong? Of course not. So if I told you that all Christians should not have a computer it would be considered legalism.

Same goes with TV. If I have an issue with watching tv because of the sexual content I would be wrong to say all tv's are bad. However if God mentions something in his word that we should not partake in then the issue is not legalism, its a matter of obeying Gods Word.

Pride: pride will never admit they are wrong, pride will convince a person they are rightous or justified . So if the bible says something is wrong and we justify it in our hearts that could be pride. If the bible says do not follow the ways of the nations and their pagan practices then that is your issue and your issue with God not me. (don't shoot the messenger)

I do not put myself above anyone, I sin like crazy and I don't have to be told its wrong, I already know its wrong, I already know its sin. I pick myself up shake off the dust and keep on keepin on.

Pride on the other hand will make excuses and justify it and thats the difference.

Holding people accountable to the word of God is not being legalistic.

John

These words are written in the Roman Canon Law 1685: "To believe that our Lord God the Pope has not the power to decree as he is decreed, is to be deemed heretical."

Now this statement comes from their own Canon Law!!!

What happened to the "heretics" during the inquisions?

Your upcoming End Time Tribulation will involve this religion, make no mistake about it.

but remember what the bible says:

And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect - - if that were possible.

ndfin,

Need more proof? The catholic practices of lent and prohibitions on marriage (for priests and nuns) is mentioned.

How much more proof do you want?

1 Timothy 4

1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

Nd,

The scripture that you put in your post answers your own question, but let’s go there. Let’s look at this in theKJV ….

2 Thessalonians 2

1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Let’s look at the context. Many in that time believed that Christ would return in their lifetime. I think Peter was even one of those people. Paul was writing to correct that error. What this chapter is clearly and plainly stating is that they knew that were not on the brink of the second coming. It says first the great apostacy will happen,  the papacy (beast of revelation) will come, and then the second coming will happen and at the second coming the papacy will be destroyed along with all of the unsaved. In that order. He points out that the Roman Empire is holding this back.

The events.\

1. Apostacy (which was already under way).

2. Fall of the Roman Empire.

3. Papacy.

4. 2nd coming.

5. Papacy & unsaved destroyed (at second coming).

He is saying that we know that the second coming is not at hand because we have not yet seen the papacy or this great apostacy.

Again, another verse that clearly and plainly contradicts the secret rapture. It is almost as if the Bible was written knowing that this deception would happen and it was written to debunk it.

The Bible could not possibly be any clearer on this matter.

Let’s review, my link to the official Vatican web page where they proclaim that the pope is Christ (God). Search on “sweet Christ”.

http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/john_paul_ii/apost_exhortations/documents/hf_jp-ii_exh_25031996_vita-consecrata_en.html

This is the Roman Antichrist. It could not possibly be any more obvious.

Yes Pain, you are correct my friend, tribulation is coming. And if we live to see that day and the Lord determines that I will go through it, I trust God. Believers that would turn from the Lord were probably not founded in their faith to begin with. They are the ones who turn their back on God and blame Him for trials they experience, they probably also have not read the book of Job and gleaned knowledge and strength. I believe you are mistaken in your understanding of this passage from Paul. However, I am going to go back and read I and II Thessalonians again together. Thanks... Reply...
