1) Repentance: (turning their heart back to God)
2) Sacrifice: (offering ourselves as a sacrifice to God "figuratively")
3) Water Baptism: (12 barrels of water to immerse the sacrifice)
4) Holy Ghost Baptism: (The Fire of God coming down upon us to confirm the presence of God in our lives)
In 1 John 5:7-8 we read that there are 3 that bear witness on earth.
1) The Water 2) the Blood and 3) the Spirit
The Spirit is likened to Fire throughout scripture.
Egypt: 1) Blood on the door posts 2) Baptised in the Red Sea 3) Led by the pillar of Fire
The Tabernacle: 1) the Blood sacrifice 2) The Laver of water 3) the Fire of the shikinah glory in the Holy of Holies
The Temple: 1) The Blood sacrifice 2) The Laver for the cleansing of the priests 3) the confirming Fire from God in the Holy of Holies
John Preached: 1) The Blood sacrifice of Jesus as "Christ of God"
2) Baptism of Water 3) Baptism of the Holy Ghost and FIRE
Jesus Preached: 1) His own sacrifice (in Blood) for our sin 2) Baptism of water 3) Holy Ghost Baptism
He also said YOU MUST BE BORN OF WATER AND SPIRIT
Peter Preached: 1) Repentance 2) Baptism of Water and 3) Baptism of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38
I am preaching that if you want to be right with God the first step is to 1) Repent 2) Be baptised in Water and 3) Recieve the Holy Ghost (with the evidence of Speaking in Tongues of FIRE)
Your very own "Fire from Heaven" like Elijah.
QUESTION: HOW LONG HALT YOU BETWEEN TWO OPINIONS???
God Bless

Now for the punch line....
1Ki 18:38 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
1Ki 18:39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.
SUMMARY: Elijah was preaching the same message as John the Baptist. i.e "Repentance" in "turning thier hearts back"
John was born to do this very thing... Luk 1:15 For he (John) shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.Luk 1:16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. Luk 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Well HOW did he do that?????

Mat 3:3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

1Ki 18:29 And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
1Ki 18:30 And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.
1Ki 18:31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:
1Ki 18:32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.
1Ki 18:33 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.
1Ki 18:34 And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.
1Ki 18:35 And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.
1Ki 18:36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
1Ki 18:37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

Notice the story so far has God's prophet challanging the religious leaders of his day.
Note that there is TWO OPINIONS being discussed.
lets continue the story....1Ki 18:26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made. 1Ki 18:27 And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.
1Ki 18:28 And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them. 1Ki 18:31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name: 1Ki 18:32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.

Hi All: You all know how much I love for scripture to address questions directly. Well on the question of how God will determine who will be saved or not I would like you to carefully read this story.
Speaking to Ahab, Elijah says..........1Ki 18:18 And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.
1Ki 18:19 Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.
1Ki 18:20 So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.
1Ki 18:21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
1Ki 18:22 Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men.
1Ki 18:23 Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under:
1Ki 18:24 And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
1Ki 18:25 And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.

I see the two groups as different.'
Many people that could care less about God or Jesus serve people.
Many people that Love God and Jesus don't do what they should for the hungry.
So, to me those two groups will be :
1. those that accept Christ as their lord and savior.
2. Those that do not.
I don't see any other groups. Reply...
