I am not getting any flu shots either.   An email is going around that you should swab out your nose each day, do a lot of gargling and stop touching your face!   Thats part of how to prevent yourself from getting the flue or honenone... :) Reply...

I'm not getting the shot either Sneaky. The medical people are saying this flu is just dangerous for the very young, the very old and those with compromised immune systems, such as lupus, diabetes, people having chemo, etc. I've had the body flu only once in my life. I had the stomach flu alot as a child, but I've read things that say most stomach flu is actually food poisoning.

I had my D levels checked 3 weeks ago and came back as mild to moderate deficiency. My problem is that I don't spend any time in the sun, so my body can't make D naturally, like it's supposed to. I do take D3 every day, but need to double it. That and krill oil and cod liver oil, plus some other supplements advised to help keep the immune system strong. I never take mega doses either...that's crazy! Reply...

WOW!  I had already made up my mind that I would not be getting ANY flu shots...........now after reading the article posted by Mar, I'm convinced I made the right decision.  Scary, scary stuff going on with vaccine. Just heard this morning that a friend of my parents got his seasonal flu shot last week, within a short time the arm where they did the injection is unusable - they are going to call and check and see if there has been any improvement  today.  I'm hoping that the govt. doesn't make the seasonal flu shot or the H1N1 mandatory......................... people who receive the seasonal flu shot are at increased risk of contracting H1N1 swine flu.

Evidence is now emerging that people who receive the seasonal flu shot are at increased risk of contracting H1N1 swine flu.

This is based on new research coming out of Canada. It means that the seasonal flu shot vaccines could be making the swine flu pandemic worse! Read my full report on this breaking news here:

Pets, I am a biologist, OB/GYN, MD, the President, the Richest man in the world, and ten foot tall and bullet proof. Did you say there were psychiatrists? Maybe I need one, I think I am having a personality disorder of some sort ROTLMAO.

Seriously tho, I am not saying that it isn't mutating but I just have not read that in any report. Another way to think of it is the chicken pox. Once you get you are immune to the rest of the strains.

As far as death rates I am not concerned about that as they are miniscule. I am just concerned that my chances getting the flu have doubled because we are putting easily spread flu plus the seasonal flu. Reply...

My daughter emailed me yesterday,  the drs are 90% sure that the two young kids in her cul de sac have swine flu.....  their temps were 103, they went to pediatrician yesterday... we are all waiting for results.. The kids all play together..

I don't get the shots, probably won't.  I hate shots...  the little guys, we will see.

You remember I wrote the post on "testing the flu vaccine on our kids"   thats the words used,  testing...

Uh, King, I happened to have gotten that information about the Swine Flu vaccine from a physician where I work. (Not a psychiatrist, by the way, but a regular doctor).  He is serving on a committee with the state Health Dept on this.  He said the Swine Flu virus is mutating so fast they can't develop a vaccine fast enough to keep up with it.  (This same reason, by the way, is why they can't develop a vaccine for the HIV virus).   Now, you may be a biologist or a doctor in disguise, I don't know.  But this is what I heard just last week from a "regular MD".

This isn't to say that people shouldn't get a flu shot.  The flu shots will give you some protection, and  it will build up your general immunity.  I always get a flu shot, and have never had a respiratory type of flu.  Stomach flu I've had (which really isn't the flu at all), but not any other.

Just for your info, Dr. Sicko king.

Uh, Pets, I have seen nowhere that the virus is mutating...Besides even if it did mutate it the current vaccine would work. Just like those who just got the swine flu the first go round won't get it again. That doesn't mean they can't get the normal flu tho.

In 1918 started in the US then spread around the world. As it spread it mutated into a more deadly strain. However when it made it back to US those who got the original strain didn't get sick again.

There is nothing wrong with getting Swine Flu shot, I probably will get a flu and swine flu shot. I have two kids in elementary, my better half works in an office building, and as it is the girls normally bring something particularly nasty home every as it is.... LOL, it always seems to be something that barely effects anyone else that knocks me on my ass, but everyone else is sick I am fine.... Vitamin C is great for the immune system too. Also exposing yourself to germs helps keep it strong as funny as that sounds... Reply...

I did what you suggested and checked out the first few links to pages about him.  He's a valid surgeon and his email address is at the U of Washington. What makes you think he's not a real doctor? Reply...

Goggle "Donald W. Miller, Jr., MD", author of the web page you provided.

My impression is that he might be a little bit or a nut job, if not a real doctor.

I'm real careful the supplements I take, and then I don't ever take mega doses like some do. I think the most important one to take is salmon oil, or better yet, krill oil aka Omega3's. Even Dr. Oz on Oprah touts the  health benefits of Omega 3's and I've read so many magazine articles about it that I have to agree they're right. It's said that most of us don't get  enough nutrients from our diets due to the quality of the food nowdays, plus our poor diets in general. Since I started taking salmon oil and now krill oil, several months ago, my hair has gotten so thick and it grows so fast that I have to get a trim every 6 weeks instead of every 3 months like I used to. I bet the krill oil helps my thyroid too, which I take synthroid for, and that working properly is going to promote faster hair growth.

I've never had a flu shot - am contemplating it this year... I get a cold about every 8 years. Hubby gets one 3 times a year normally. Reply...

It can't hurt to get the Swine Flu shot, though.  It will help boost your immunity in general.  Same for the regular flu shot. Reply...

I will have to agree with Fossil on this one.  Get the flu shot.  It won't protect you 100% from everything, but it will help.

If you are eating a proper diet, you should be getting just about all the vitamins you need without having to take supplements.  Vit. supplements can be a real scam.  Cost a lot but do little or nothing.

The Swine Flu shots, may not be any good at all.  I heard that the virus is mutating so fast they can't keep up with a useful vaccine.

Mike - Forget Jack A who is a Littl RushNut in training. Apart from the medicine show that we will be having in the Dome this Friday, I do have a small issue to comment on. Downtown Fargo is becoming a place for pedestrians and bikers to shop and spend time. For a food or retail business it definitely has potential. Downtown Broadway has a problem with dog owners who are not picking up their dog's feces on the sidewalk. This AM a pile of it was walked on and spread on up the walk. There are just too many people downtown on the weekdays for this to occur.   Reply...
