Well, with any luck we will be at our house in Az tomorrow.  I am so glad.  It has been a long trip.  We left one week ago tomorrow and have will have put about 2400 miles on the car.

Today, we went through Carlsbad Caverns.  It really was neat.  I think everyone should go if they get close to it.  I walked through most of it.  My husband took the handcapped trail and made it okay.  I walked the entire great room trail and I walked the 7500 feet that takes you into mouth of the cave.  It is almost straight down.  It really gives you a idea of how huge the cave is and how far down it goes.  Anyone else been there?

Theresa, I hope your surgery goes well.  I have a sinus problem.  I sometimes wonder if it is allergy induced or something else.  By the way, I told my hubby you got hearing aids from the VA.  How did you go about getting them?  He needas them but we don't have the 7000 at least to pay for them.  Are yours the digital ones?

WEll, gonna watch tv and hit the hay early.  We want an early start tomorrow.

Later Ladies and to all a good night.

Theresa... No black or white Friday for me.  Never have, never will.

Lets talk NY.   I lived  in Bayshore and Brentwood Long Island for 3 yrs.  Love NYC... it was loads of fun taking the long island expressway into the City.   Young enough to get in trouble.. :)     And to have a ball.

Never went to the Macys day Parade, but did shoppe in Macys alot.

The Turkey fryer story is great, I am still laughing. I have known a few people in my life that have tried to fry a turkey in the garage. One person did not have a pulley system set up to take the turkey out of the hot oil. I think they had to call the fire department because they started a fire.

KX viewer, I also don’t travel, that is why I started this thread. We are five lonely people here in Minot. My family is in New York, my spouse his family is in Texas.

I used to go to the Macy’s day parade every year. The train ride into the city was always so much fun, even though it was only 20 minutes. The best was the hot Chocolate and hot chestnuts from the street venders. I always remember the Snoopy float; it is always a staple of the parade. Then we would go home, Care I know what you are talking about with a mother with a hangover. Maybe we should start an ACOA (Adult Children of Alcoholics) thread for the holidays.

Thanksgiving was always a fun time.

Who is going shopping on Black Friday? Who has a good story there, I have a ton.  I was talking to someone the other day, how in 1987 I stood in a line for 13 hours just for a chance to get a Cabbage Patch Kid. Only people with tickets were allowed to go into the parking lot to stand and weight for a helicopter to drop 300 cabbage patch kids. There had to be 500 people, I jumped over someone to get one then I tackled it and held it like a football close to my body. The funny thing is I did not even have any girls, it was for me.

Hi everyone how are you today? I am good, thanks for asking, I also am having surgery in December.  For anyone in Minot that is reading this that has ear or sinus problems there is a new doctor at ENT at Trinity, he is marvelous. After years of pain he is doing sinus surgery on me.

Curly that is a scary story with the cow poop on the car; do you know what I do all the time now? I carry my cell phone right next me and take photos of trucks and cars that are breaking the law, you should have called that truck in, that is not suppose to happen.  My prayers are with you and your husband every day.

KO you are nice not to take advantage of what is yours, do your kids with him have military benefits? When I was a First Sergeant, I was always on men to own to their responsibilities. Like your friend with the child of a military man, that child is entitled to a life time of benefits. Enough about that I was getting worked up sorry.

Marilyn if you are reading this I am sorry if I made you mad. This room is a separate forum; we all just dump our stuff.  Marilyn how about that bus accident in MN, and the today show had this story about boys hurting people for a YouTube moment.

Care do you have a map application on your phone? I do, I have a map of anywhere, and too bad I never go anywhere.  Keep the Shelbeast up with her school, make sure she knows she has to be smart in her life, and not have to depend on any man to take care of her. I tell my daughter that every day; she needs to focus on college and not her looser boyfriend. I tell her knowing how to play “Call of Duty” video game will mean nothing when in 10 years. She makes me so mad; don’t get me started on that one.

Shoppe, I love you so this is for you...

Hay how come we don't have a McDonalds in Walmart?

I like the Eggnog shakes.

See you later, Theresa

Wuwei......Ah yes....home for the holidays.  That was our Christmas growing up....Mother was always "sick" (hungover) on Xmas morning....we would open presents but couldn't run around all happy with them.  I have to say though since joining my hubby's family.......Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter.....all very fun, relaxed and happy family oriented holidays.  My kids will have a lot of good childhood memories on that front.

Si....my problem with cooking in the oven is constantly wanting to open the door, check things out etc.....which isn't good because heat escapes...temp goes down and messes with cook time.  That Turkey that the oven was off the entire time....was the first time I FORCED myself not to open it for the first 3 or so hours.....I could have kicked myself in the arse for not doing my usual and opening the door about a thousand times in the first hour...LOL!

Shoppe...true story!  After posting...I told my hubby that Theresa started this thread....he just busted out laughing...he said you told the deep fryer story didn't you?  I started laughing and said of course....then he preceded to tell ME the entire story......LOL!!!  Hilarious! Reply...

Hello everyone!

Anyone heard from Marilyn?  I have not seen a post from her anywhere on the forum and a long time.

Well, I have been on a roll.  We left last Saturday for Fargo.  We stayed there until Monday morning and then we left for Minneapolis to see hubby's doc.  They are making application to Workforce safety for him to have surgery.  I am not sure if it is the right thing to do but the poor man needs to get releif and it is the only thing anyone has really offered.  They will remove the metal from his spine and try to clean up L3.  If approved it will be in Dec some time.

Then after his appointment was over, we left Minneapolis for AZ as a final destination.  We are driving down a old car we bought for our use down there.  It is an old Lincoln towncar.  It is a 1999 and it is really still a very nice car and is perfect for what we need it for.  It was cheap too.

The trip has gone pretty well, except for the fact that he is miserable and pretty high on pain meds so he can stand the ride.  Right now he is passed out in bed and has been for about an hour and it is only 7:30 this time.  We are in New Mexico.  I hope to make it either tomorrow or the nxt morning.  We will fly back to Bismarck on Dec 2.  We will be there until the surgery is done or we will just fly back to Az for the remainder of the winter.

Gotta tell you a funny story.  We were driving into a little town called Hampton Iowa.  It was just getting dark and I was driving.  It smelled like Pig, chicken cow dung and it was pungent.  Well, a truck is coming from the front and just as it went by, one (or more) of the animals releived itself and it hit our car big time.  I almost hit the ditch.  Hard to see through that stuff.  GROSS!  The next morning I took the car to a do it your self car wash and spent 10 bucks washing the yuk off the car.  I almost lost it cause I do not have a very strong stomach and that was about at the top of my limit.

Well, sounds like you are all fine. Si Ko I know you are very sad and I feel for you.  Wish there was something we could do to ease your sorrow.

Well, good night ladies.

bye

Theresa (since I am not speaking to KXvuhur)...

I always cook,  always,  we don't go anywhere... my 3 kids are always there and now my new daughter in law (vegetarian).. but she will eat chicken/turkey...

Usually do lots of baking,   brownies, 2 pumpkin pies, apple.. all fresh from scratch of course.

Lasagna the day before, since everyone loves it , and so easy to  grab as a leftover.

Turkey day is turkey/ ham.... oddles of food, salads,  stuff.... eat too much,  watch too much football, look at old black and whites, and laugh alot.

Love Thanksgiving, you don't have to worry about if someone likes their present or not.. :)

very relaxing day.   My one son likes to go with a church group every year and play some football.   Visit friends.  He is the single one..

I don't decorate for thanksgiving.... but decorate a lot for Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving!  Since being with my husband, we go to his folks.  My MIL can cook very very well.  I usually do the dishes after....she loves that I wash 'em for her, by hand.  She just got an entire new kitchen...top to bottom, just before Easter.  So this year she is excited to have her new kitchen for Thanksgiving....I can't wait because she got a DISHWASHER, and the model isn't a CARE......I will load it for her though!!!  There are always bowls of munchies on every table...the black olives are the first bowl to go empty.

Ok you wanted a story......A few years back my FIL got a turkey deep fryer.  He read the instructions for about a second and then preceded to set everything up....jugs and jugs of oil was needed.  The fryer was out in the garage. Keep in mind my father in law was born in '38, his wife, she was born in'58. (She is only a few years older than my hubby.)  My FIL...doesn't always have a sense of humor...while me my hubby, MIL, huibbys bro and his wife...we all have a great sense of humor!!!  Anyway back to talking turkey....the deep fryer was doing its thing getting hot and all.  Hours went by.....my MIL had all the sides ready....we usually eat around 2 or so...and now its like 4, everyone is starving...My FIL...keeps checking the thermometer....FINALLY.....the thermometer reads whatever temp he read about in the instructions....YEA....turkeys done....My MIL and I were in the kitchen window watching the guys in the garage.....OMG OMG OMG....My FIL pulls out the turkey...I'm not kidding either...that thing was soooo black and charred...and it shrunk right up to half its size. We all just fell over laughing.  He was so pizzed, not impressed at all by the rest of us laughing so hard. Apparently the thermometer was suppose to be in the turkey...not the oil??? Or the other way around maybe, he brought it up to 400 degrees...hahahahahah!!!!  Can you say CHARRED???   We were all sitting at the table and he actually put that crispy burnt bird on a platter and preceded to carve it!!!!  All of us adult children...kept looking at each other, none of us saying a word. We were absolutely dying inside....imagine everyone sitting around the table with NO EXPRESSION, and just eyes shifting back and forth to one another....hahahahahahah!!!!

Ok one more....a couple of years ago my in laws went to Ireland of the holiday.  I bought all the fixings invited my brother over...everything going like clockwork....finally 3 1/2 hours go by...I open the oven door....nothing...no heat...raw bird!  I had set the oven and the timer...then went to change a setting and cancelled the WRONG button...I had shut of the oven completely!  We waited and waited for this bird and the darn oven had been off the whole time.  Best darn mashed potatoes we'd had in years..... ← Usually does not celebrate the holiday, due to driving to far in inclimatic weather usually.  Any cold holidays is well spent at home if you compare it to sitting stuck in snow or car problems, if you have long distance to drive. Reply...

Holy crap Si....no pun intended!  Hope everyone is feeling better.  The swimminator...good one! The room is getting there.  No more carpet....which was half the battle.

T...those walmart pictures just crack me up. I hope you are feeling better. I know that when I passed out that one time a few weeks back...omg, kind of scary. I had felt horrible all the next day too!  Plus my head hurt from landing on it....ouch!

Shoppe what's new in your world?
chat later girls.....love ya, care xoxoxoxox

PS....If I had known about the Beatles thingy maybe I would of made plans. I had parent teacher conference tonight, ShelbA+STUDENT!!! Straight A's....above average for Math and Science. Apparently she loves maps too!  Social studies, they are on Maps...the teacher was impressed with her work.(My entire family has enjoyed maps forever)  Reading, the teacher said she always adds just a little more about the story when no one has anything else to add(I call it her 2 cents)  I was happy leaving the conference....Rol and I are both very satisfied with her work!!!!!

Hello everyone, how are you today? I am okay; I had a busy day today. Of course I started with the paper route, and then I went off to the soup kitchen at about 0730hrs.  I made a banana cake this morning, if you ever have brown bananas; I have a great cake recipe. From bananas to cake in 45 minutes, if you want banana frosting an extra ten minutes.  I add chocolate chips, everyone loves my banana cake.  I helped get things ready for the soup kitchen, and then I had to get a CAT scan at 1130. So I had my CAT scan stood up and passed out, cold fish. I woke up to smelling salts, there were people around me and they wanted to take me to the emergency room.  I didn’t want to go, but they said I had to and I can’t wait to see this bill. I have problems with passing out, I have no idea what triggered it. I am home now all safe at my computer.

KO, KO, KO, smells like you had a rough day, I remember those days of sick kids and poop. I really don’t want to think about it.  Your x husband retired from the Military right? How long were you married to him, you know if you were married over ten years you are entitled to half of his retirement, did you know that?  That is why my husband hopes I never leave him, there is no law that says he is entitled to half of my military retirement, but I get half of his. I would never take it, when we split it will be clean, divorce in a do it yourself box, sells at office max $79.99.

Care how is the clean up going, okay let’s do it… Let’s do a looky look at the world of Care

Care if I was there, we would be going to see The Beatles tribute band
