Joel Porter returned to the Capital City joining KX News in August 2022.
He grew up in Wilton and graduated from NDSU. He then worked in news markets in Grand Forks, Bismarck, Eugene, Oregon; South Bend, Indiana; and Huntsville, Alabama. In that time, he was an anchor/reporter, covering crime, city government, sports and the occasional fill-in weather forecast. Joel stepped away from news for the last two years working a variety of jobs, including driving a school bus, hauling freight in a Target warehouse and most recently, delivering concrete for Knife River.
When he’s not working, Joel enjoys bowhunting, fishing, running races, playing pinochle and checking out garage sales.
