100 Deadliest Days of Summer

It’s the most dangerous time of year for drivers.

Memorial day to labor are known as the 100 deadliest days of summer. AAA reports an average of 10 people die in car crashes each day during the deadly stretch. While national statistics are increasing. North Dakota’s numbers are looking optimistic. Since Memorial Day, Highway Patrol says there have been 17 fatal crashes in the state.

Lt. Michael Roark; NDHP: “So this year, we’re seeing some encouraging results. Motor vehicle fatalities are down nearly 28 percent. And also, alcohol-related fatalities are down 30 percent.”

Highway patrol also reports that so far this year, about 22 percent of fatal crashes were alcohol related.
