2,000 Barrels of Brine Spilled in Bottineau County

2,000 barrels of brine spilled in Bottineau County Sunday.

Equipment failure is to blame according to the state’s oil and gas division. It happened at the Stratton C-3 water injection well, about five miles northwest of Maxbass, N.D. The site is owned by Scout Energy Management LLC.

Brine is a water and salt mixture that’s needed for oil development.

It can harm agricultural land. This spill did not. All two thousand barrels were trapped at the site.
