From April 1 to May 19, law enforcement agencies across the state scheduled extra patrols as a way to prevent underage drinking.

Statewide, a total of 266 citations were attributed to the added patrols, including 71 counts of minor in consumption and 10 counts of minor in possession, five driving under the influence (DUI) arrests, 20 other alcohol-related citations, and 19 drug related citations.

Traffic stops yielded two felony arrests, seven warrants, 15 speeding tickets, and two seat belt citations.

Funding for additional traffic safety enforcement is provided by federal grant money distributed through the ND DOT.
