The Adult Abused Resource Center says statewide, there’s been an increase in domestic violence reports this year.
Tonight the group holds a Take Back the Night rally that aligns with Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This year they will be remembering 6 victims who died from domestic violence. That compares to only 2 victims last year. Domestic abuse survivor and the event coordinator, Emily Riedman, says everyone can help stop domestic violence.
“Being apart of it and just giving back to the community and like helping others find a life after domestic violence and the abuse they have gone through and starting over. There is life after the abuse,” says Riedman.
The Take Back the Night rally is at the State Capital Grounds and will be offering a chili feed afterwards.
