If you want to feel better, have more energy and even add years to your life all you have to do is exercise.

That’s according to Dr. Dawn Mattern a family practice physician with Trinity Health.

Dr. Mattern says that most people do not achieve the recommended minimum dose of 150 minutes of exercise per week.

In order to get people moving Dr. Mattern and other physicians walked with the community at Oak Park.

This kicked off the Walk Minot 2018 spring season.

“Pretty much anything counts, I talk with my patients all the time about just being active –if you’re up and doing chores, you’re gardening, walking the dog you’re walking to and from work –anything it’s just moving I need you off the couch and moving,” said Dr. Mattern.

Being active can also reduce the risk of getting heart disease, cancer and diabetes.
