5th Graders are having their voices heard.
“The mall is awesome or I love going to oak park, Roosevelt park, or anything like that and then talk about why that is in different paragraphs,” said James Owen, 5th Grade Teacher.
Why do you love living here?
“It’s not like a big city so the traffic isn’t terrible,” said Noah Bledsoe, 5th Grader.
That’s the question Minot’s Mayor is asking all 5th graders.
“You could write anything that you want and you could make it go however you want to,” said Harper Holt, 5th Grader.
Several ten to twelve year olds are taking to the keyboard…
“I’m saying I love Minot because there’s a lot of fun things to do and a lot of events happening,” said Holt.
“They are putting writing into application,” said James Owen, Perkett Elementary 5th Grade Teacher.
The mayor is doing more than just asking the kids to write. He’s going to use those answers and share it at the state of the city event.
“They surely appreciate that,” said Owen.
He’ll choose one winner and that person will get to do something special.
“We could read it in front of important people,” said Bledsoe.
The teacher says that the best part is seeing what types of answers the kids come up with.
“Some of the answers are suprising,” said Owen.
“I kind of like going to Harley Davidson,” said Bledsoe.
“During Christmas like when the holiday trains comes and when they light the Christmas Tree,” said Holt.
No matter what you love the most, the special part is that all the 5th graders get to have their voice heard.
All of the 5th graders have until mid-January to perfect their essays.
