After over a year and a half of construction, the new governor’s residence is nearly done. And we got an inside look at the finished product.

Facilities Director John Boyle took us through a few of the rooms throughout the house including the main living area and front entrance. The 13,000 square foot home took $5 million dollars to build. It was approved during the 2015 legislative session. But overall the favorite room of the house according to Boyle is the formal space. The 15-hundred square foot space features marble flooring and white oak paneling valued at $400 a square foot.

“This is where the first family will entertain dignitaries and things. Very excited about it. It’s got a nice formal sitting area. It’s got the grand piano, and then of course the dining on the other side,” said Boyle.

The main residents of the house are Governor Burgum, First Lady Kathryn, and their cat, Mr. Gray.
