Opening prayers are given every day at the start of the legislative session, but today’s was a first.
Universal Society of Hinduism President Rajan Zed says today marks the first time a Hindu prayer was given in front of North Dakota legislators.
Zed traveled from Nevada to share a message from the oldest religion in the world.
His thoughts for the Senate today: Do your work with the welfare of everyone in mind, and without self-interest.
Zed explains, “The country is getting diverse, so we should understand each other better, that way we can work cohesively and harmoniously. That is good for the country and for the world.”
He will be opening the House of Representatives tomorrow afternoon.
