A program is helping people with chronic conditions

Sanford Health is offering a new program to help people experiencing chronic conditions.

Better Choices, Better Health is a free 6-week workshop that helps people manage their chronic illnesses.

People learn how to manage their chronic disease by learning decision-making tools, distraction techniques, and ways to deal with pain.

“I have had chronic illnesses starting at the age of 17, so about 30 years ago. The chronic illness does not go away. To me, this class really brought me out of my shell by talking about my chronic illness with people. Sharing that I am not alone. It taught me how to say it is okay to take care of myself,” said Dawn Thompson, Sanford patient.

Sanford is the only one in North Dakota with this program.
The next class starts Feb. 21 at BSC.
