It’s been a record year for corn production in North Dakota.
A recent estimate from the USDA shows that about 154 bushels of corn per acre was produced this season.
Dale Ihry with the North Dakota Corn-Growers association says that’s a far cry from 2012, when there were about 65 bushels per acre.
All total, growers produced over 500 million bushels of corn.
“I think wheat is still our number one, soybeans is probably number two, and corn is kind of number three now with canola sneaking up there so things have changed quite a bit over the years,” says Dale Ihry, ND Corn Growers Association
About a third of North Dakota’s corn will go to the 5 ethanol refineries in the state.
