If you’re planning to enroll in an Affordable Care Act health insurance plan for 2019, do it soon.
Open enrollment closes Saturday December 15th.
You can either enroll or change your current plan for 2019, and once you choose a plan, they will go into effect on the 1st of January.
We spoke to a health insurance broker who says premiums have stayed the same.
But she says it’s important to take advantage of open enrollment.
“It’s the one time a year where you can look at your other options, as premiums increase or the plans change it’s always best to look at your options and see if you should stay where you’re at or switch to something else,” said health insurance broker, Nicole Carlson.
Starting with the 2019 plan year you will no longer be penalized if you do not have health insurance.
According to healthcare.gov, Obama care enrollment numbers were down this year by a little over 3 percent compared to last years.
11.8 million enrolled in the Affordable Care Act health plan in 2018 and 12.2 million people enrolled in 2017.
So far, over 4 million have chosen the Affordable Care Act health plans for next year.
11,056 of those people are from North Dakota.
