KX News took a closer look into adoption in North Dakota.
Social Worker, Lindsey Krueger says that numbers fluctuate often but as of now there is a need for adoption parents.
There are several types of adoption including North Dakota identified, interstate, international, and embryo adoption.
Krueger says that if you want to be an adoption parent – there are steps to take like a home study, interviews, and a background check.
This process can take months.
“These mothers are making a loving plan. They are making a plan to place their child into a home because they feel at this time they just can’t provide a suitable home for their child,” said Lindsey Krueger, Adoption & Pregnancy Social Worker.
Krueger says that they encourage openness with all their adoptive parents and finds that most families choose to have a relationship with the birth parents.
