More than 400 airmen and women from the Minot Air Force Base have been deployed to fight ISIS in the Middle East.
A handful of Minot-based B-52 Stratofortress Bombers deployed, too – that’s the first time in 12 years that aircraft from Minot have been sent into combat operations.
The Air Force announced in 2016 that it would send B-52s to the Middle East. The airmen began their deployment in early March.
Air Force officials say the Minot bombers will replace B-52s from Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.
