The Air Force has lost some explosives somewhere in Mountrail County.

Sheriff Ken Halvorson reports the Air Force notified his office one week ago it had lost explosives near Parshall.

They were lost somewhere along 76th Avenue – stretching for six miles from Highway 23 south to 33rd Street – indicated in red on the map.
The sheriff reports the Air Force identified the ordinance as a belt of linked “grenades” used in a grenade launcher.

It’s in a green metal container that’s 18-and-a-half inches long, 8-and-a-half inches wide, and 14-and-a-half inches tall.

About 100 airmen searched the area today but, as of tonight, have not been able to find the explosives.
If you see the container or the explosives, do not handle them, but contact your local law enforcement office.
