Amazon’s market value passed the $1 trillion mark today, becoming the second publicly traded company to pass the stratospheric threshold.

Apple was the first company to do so just over a month ago.

Combined, Amazon and Apple represent more than 8 percent of the total value of the S&P 500 stocks.

Amazon’s meteoric stock value increase has been driven by many factors, including the fact that the company is now turning a profit afer years of losses or breaking even.

At the start of 2018, Amazon was worth over $580 billion.
