Bismarck, ND – A new amendment could fund the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library but not without other conditions being met first.
Democratic Senator Tim Mathern has proposed an amendment to the Department of Commerce Budget. In it, it would provide more than $43 million for the library project. But, the proposal would also require a 3% increase in funding for Human service providers such as nursing homes and developmental disability services. It would also give state employees a 3% raise each year of the next biennium.
“If we can actually fund our needs, like proper rates for nursing homes and group homes and employee salaries. If we can properly do that, then we can also do the library,” Sen. Mathern said.
The amendment would also require the governor to secure 100 million dollars in private funding before the state provides its share.
