New Cholesterol guidelines will make checking patients cholesterol more efficient.
The American Heart Association says nearly 1 in 3 adults have high cholesterol. The new guidelines offer more specific recommendations for certain age and ethnic groups. They also allow doctors to separate patients into higher risk and lower risk groups.
Sanford Health Cardiologist, Stephen Boateng, explains why the new guidelines are so important.
Boateng says, “Physicians are equipped with the Mariette of two’s to personal care for each of their patients. You know the previous guidelines was more of a one size fits all and it significantly increased the total number of patients that would be on stint in therapies.”
