Bismarck has the dubious distinction of being the auto theft capital in North Dakota.
That’s according to National Insurance Crime Bureau statistics analyzed by the financial information website 24/7 Wall St.
Based on the data, Bismarck has nearly 204 vehicle stolen for every 100,000 residents.
And while, relatively speaking, that number is pretty low compared to other metropolitan areas around the county, it is the largest in North Dakota.
In 2017, according to the statistics, 269 vehicles were stolen in the Bismarck area.
