Angel P.L.A.N.

A local non-profit is raising money for projects in Westhope.
Angel P.L.A.N. or Projects of Love Among Neighbors, is currently fundraising to build a walking path.
Hannah Davis has the story.
“We started out, four years ago, just some parents who have lost children. We got together to put on an event and raise money for a Christmas Box Angel for our cemetery.” said Robin Tolstad, Angel P.L.A.N. Chairperson.
The community loved the event and were excited for another in the future.
“And then we were thinking, ‘Well, what do we do with the money that’s brought in?’ Because our Angel project was complete.” said Robin Tolstad, Angel P.L.A.N. Chairperson.
The group decided to find out what the town needed.
Last year, they raised twelve thousand dollars to construct a new concession building.
Now, they are working on a new project.
“We really need a walking path. Our highway here -the shoulder is -there’s really no safe place, if you’re on the highway, for walking, or riding a bike, or families going out for an evening stroll with the baby in the stroller, or something -you can’t do that, unless you walk around town.”
(Hannah Davis, Reporting)”This carnival is just the beginning of the fundraising that Angel P.L.A.N. will have to do, in order to complete the walking path.”
“We have been given bids anywhere from one hundred thousand dollars to eight hundred thousand dollars.Who would’ve thought dirt was expensive, but it is.” said Robin Tolstad, Angel P.L.A.N. Chairperson.
The day began with a prayer at the Angel of Hope statue to remember the children who were lost.
The area with the future walking path was mowed so people could walk from the cemetery to the carnival.
“We’ve lost a child so it has a lot of meaning to our family. And so we come and walk in honor of our daughter.” said Tracy Henry, Westhope Resident.
The carnival had a silent auction, a dunking booth, and a cake walk amongst other activities to raise money.
Angel P.L.A.N. is prepared for long haul to get the walking path finished.
