North Dakota’s race for Secretary of State has added another turn.

A former Lieutenant Governor candidate has submitted signatures to be added to the November Ballot.

Michael Coachman ran alongside Paul Sorum for Governor in 2016 and in 2012.

Coachman and current Secretary of State Al Jaeger both are in the process of getting their signatures confirmed.

Earlier this year, the North Dakota Republican Party endorsed Will Gardner for Secretary of State. Before the June primary election, a prior criminal charge involving Gardner peeping in the windows of a girls dormitory on NDSU’s campus emerged. Gardner then withdrew his candidacy.

It takes 1,000 confirmed signatures for a candidate to be listed on a November ballot if they were not on the June primary ballot.

They will be listed as Independents on the November ballot if confirmed, though Jaeger has been given a letter of support of candidacy from the ND GOP.

All of this has to be done by September 4th, which is the filing deadline for all candidates.

As of now — only Democratic candidate Joshua Boschee is on the November ballot for Secretary of State.
