As River Levels Rise, Boat Ramps Close

Due to the rising water levels on the Missouri River, boat ramps are closing.

Bismarck Parks and Recreation announced this weekend that the Keelboat Boat Ramp and the Fox Island Boat Ramp are closed. At the Keelboat Ramp, you can see barriers across the parking lot, and the entire ramp has disappeared under the water.

Fast currents and wake from boats have eroded riverbanks all along the edges. Some residents tell us they’ve seen the damage in their own backyards. Tearing out grass, and even overtaking some trees.

The Army Corps of engineers announced a few days ago it will be releasing water from the Garrison Dam at 60 thousand cubic feet per second by the end of the weekend.
